Memory Screenings
The Geauga County Department on Aging is partnering with University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center to provide residents a day to promote brain health and offer free memory evaluations. Memory screenings are for everyone regardless of whether one is having memory concerns now or for future comparisons.
Memory screening is a safe, simple evaluation that checks memory and other thinking skills. The screening consists of a series of questions and/or tasks designed to test memory, language skills, thinking ability and other intellectual functions.
Each screening lasts about 15 minutes. Each individual will meet in a private session with a trained healthcare professional, who will administer the screening quiz. The participant will receive a copy of the final result.
Memory screenings are offered to provide tools to ensure that seniors keep their minds active and healthy. If further evaluation is needed, the healthcare professional can provide navigation to available resources within the community.
Free memory screenings will be held:
 Nov. 13, Middlefield Senior Center, 11 a.m., 440-632-0611;
 Nov. 15, Chagrin Falls Senior Center, 9 a.m., 440-247-8510;

Depression Screenings
One in four women and one in 10 men will experience depression at some point during their lifetimes. Two-thirds of those suffering from the illness do not seek the necessary treatment, and depression can occur and complicate other medical conditions.
Depression screenings point out the presence or absence of depressive symptoms. The clinical experts will provide a referral for further evaluation if needed.
Screenings will be held at:
