The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff's Office Dec. 28 through Jan. 3. In total, the sheriff's office handled 314 calls during this seven-day period.
Domestic Violence
Jan. 1
7:07 p.m., Goodwin Avenue, Burton. Husband said he was going to take a baseball bat and smash her head now. Husband has been drinking. Does have weapons, but should be locked in the safe. Started over money.
Injured Person
Jan. 2
12:37 p.m., Tavern Road, Parkman. Male shot himself in the hand by accident with a muzzleloader. Unknown where the gun is, possibly in the basement. Report taken for accidental gunshot wound to hand.
Robbery
Dec. 29
1:49 p.m., Meadowlands Drive, Chardon. Male in black jacket and green shirt took a handful of DVDs and went running through the Home Depot parking lot. Chester PD advised they had a female in black Cadillac steal DVDs from Giant Eagle in Chester and Bainbridge also had similar incident. Sheriff's office en route to subject's house with canine units also; he's run in the past. One male arrested in custody. Notified jail of transport.
Suspicious
Dec. 28
1:15 a.m, Butternut Road, Munson. Female being chased by a man with shovel. Females were assisting a friend out of the driveway when they stated a male holding a shovel appeared out of nowhere, then chased them down the road and through yards. No other footprints were viewed in the snow, however. Females are not back at the house they were staying.
4:26 p.m., Auburn Springs Drive, Auburn. Female went outside to shake her rugs and she could hear a child screaming, "No, no, leave me alone; let go of me." UTL.
Theft
Dec. 30
12:26 p.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. Two snowboards have been stolen. Owners will be waiting at the guest services building. Report taken.
Traffic Crash
Jan. 3
11:35 a.m., Auburn Road, Newbury. Two cars really bad, one rolled over. Complainant called back and one person is still unconscious but breathing. Other person is conscious but having difficulty breathing due to air bag. Staff page sent.
