The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff�s Office Nov. 2-8. In total, the sheriff�s office handled 301 calls during this seven-day period.
Assault
Nov. 7
2:03 a.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. My boyfriend beat me up and I think I may have broken ribs. I ran out of house. I am hiding under a trailer here now and he is trying to find me. He struck me and threw me around, and the other people in the house did not try to help me; they just stood around. Report to police prosecutor.
Citizen Assist
Nov. 6
2:33 p.m., GAR Highwayt, Hambden. Someone called the complainant to advise her that a Hambden trustee took her signs down. Complainant wants her signs put back up. Trustee explained to her he did take signs as well as others left unattended. Trustee explained signs are permitted on township property as long as persons displaying signs remain on property with the signs. The signs taken down are located on side of the building. Complainant was advised by deputy leaving message on her phone.
Citizen Dispute
Nov. 2
6:07 p.m., Meadowbrook Drive, Newbury. Woman threw a bunch of pumpkins at the caller�s home and at the caller. She originally dumped them across the street from the caller and she tok them back to his house. She got mad and began throwing them at the caller. Deputy advised. Caller was advised to stay inside his residence until deputies arrived.
Nov. 6
4:24 p.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. Hambden Township Park. White male wearing a brighht yellow vest driving a red pickup truck approached a petitioner in the area and attempted to rip a bunch of political signs out of her arms. He was then harassing her and the group she was with. Deputy advised. Complainant overheard the male that attacked her was a superintendent or trustee for Hambden. Complainant will be waiting in a blue Chevy Cobalt. She is not injured and male has since walked away from the area. Complainants were asked to move off township property. They said he was rude. Complainant left the area.
Nov. 8
1:57 a.m., Hillview Road, Newbury. Complainant is calling to advise the one neighbor has been having an ongoing problem with the other neighbor over her dog barking all the time. The other neighbor in turn has placed a spot light in the trees that shines toward the complainant�s house which he has a problem with. No crime is being committed, but the complainant doesn�t like the spot light shining at his house and he feels something should be done about it. Deputy drove by area. No argument observed between neighbors. Observed light mounted on a tree and shinning across the street.
Medical
Nov. 3
5:30 p.m., Whitney Road, Montville. Male has fallen from a tree 20 feet up and they can see his insides. Appears to be his abdomen. No neck or back pain. Male is still conscious.
Suspicious
Nov. 3
3:02 p.m., Ravenna Road, Newbury. Young male in camo with an airsoft rifle pretending to take shots at cars. Six males playing airsoft on their property. Advised to move away from the roadway.
Nov. 8
4:38 p.m., Glenmora Drive, Chardon. Caller states he received a suspicious package in the mail from an unknown person. Caller wanted to speak with a deputy. Opened package determined to be wedding DVDs.
Theft
Nov. 3
4:03 p.m., Tavern Road, Burton. Theft of scrap from business. Owner believes an employee may be responsible. Receipt from Honest Scales was located. Owner confirmed the employee brought the missing items to the scrap yard.
Vandalism
Nov. 3
9:42 a.m., Zenith Drive, Newbury. Someone put eggs in the mailbox and TP�d the yard. Looking for an SUV with three occupants.
Weapons Offense
Nov. 3
4:22 p.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. Caller wishes to have the area checked. She heard two loud gunshots or explosions in the area. No further information available. Responded to area and located gun fire on Brakeman Road. Homeowners shooting pumpkins with shotguns. Homeowners have a safe and proper back stop. Cleared. IR only.
