The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriffï's Office Nov. 30 through Dec. 6. In total, the sheriff's office handled 296 calls during this seven-day period.
Animal Problem
Nov. 30
1:56 p.m., Auburn Road, Chardon. There is a sick skunk running around the neighbor's property. We think it may have rabies. Responded to location. Skunk does not appear to be sick or aggressive; however, is spraying the neighborhood. Complainant and neighbor request skunk be dispatched. Skunk is handing around houses, buildings and passing motorists. Unable to dispatch. Advice given on pest control companies. No pets or children in the area.
Dec. 2
8:16 p.m., N. Bridle Trail, Munson. Bat trapped in the house. Caller asking for a deputy to assist her in trying to remove it.
Citizen Dispute
Nov. 30
10:43 p.m., Hillview Road, Newbury. Neighbor has been annoyed about the caller's dogs barking so he has now installed a spotlight on his property and is shining it right at the caller's house and at the dog fence. Light amkes dogs bark worse. Caller is going to zoning to see if there is anything that can be done but wants it on file because he has told the neighbors he will shoot the dogs.
Drugs/Alcohol
Nov. 30
2 p.m., Madison Roa, Montville. Found drug paraphernalia in my daughter's room. Daughter is not here.
6:49 p.m., Washington Street, Auburn. Drugs at The Pond. One male detained, possible trafficking. One male arrested.
Gunshot
Dec. 1
3:21 p.m., Rapids Road, Burton. Fifty-five-year-old male was accidentally shot in the leg. He was hit in the lower right let in the calf with a shotgun. They were hunting. They are brining him up to the back of the barn. He is conscious and breathing. Someone else accidentally shot him. They are not sure who it was. Case transferred to ODNR. One male transported to Geauga Medical Center by Troy rescue.
