The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff�s Office Nov. 23-29. In total, the sheriff�s office handled 343 calls during this seven-day period.
Found Property
Nov. 25
1:37 p.m., N. State Avenue, Middlefield. Shotgun found on Route 608 near Route 528. Report taken.
Fraud
Nov. 27
9:55 a.m., Jackson Drive, Burton. Wire transfer from above location to business in Rhode Island. On Aug. 31, the complainant/company purchased machinery from company at above location. The money was wire transferred from Rhode Island to Ohio, Burton. The subject never shipped the machinery and now he is no longer returning calls; last contact was about Sept. 28. Price of machinery was $64,900. See report.
Property Damage
Nov. 29
12:36 p.m., GAR Highway, Montville. On post to report beer can through window on Nov. 24. Would like to report several incidents, including beer cans thrown through windows and �torched� vehicle. All of which are occurring when the bar is closed. Would like extra patrol in the area during hours after the bar is closed.
Suspicious
Nov. 27
7:30 p.m., Captains Walk, Munson. Grandfather took a dog away from granddaughter, who called extremely upset. Spoke to grandfather and he said he is using the dog as a too for behavior. Unknown if there is a problem at the residence. Deputy advised.
Nov. 28
10:49 a.m., Fairmount Road, Newbury. Brother took off mother bank card and cell phone; he already has taken out $80. He will not answer the complainant�s call. He left about 30 minutes ago. Friend just received a text from him that he is on his way back home, possibly from Euclid. He is on heroin. Requesting a deputy. Male arrested for theft and drugs; report to follow.
Theft
Nov. 26
5:47 p.m., Old State Road, Claridon. My estranged wife broke into my shed and stole my $600 cross bow, then she stole my house keys and the caller is unable to get inside. She is probably going to go pawn it; she has been at the house begging for money.
Nov. 28
9:14 a.m., Kevin Lane, Hambden. Man called stating she owed $4,000 to $5,000 and the sheriff was coming to arrest her. She gave him her debit card information and he took $120 out of her account. Male told caller she owed money from a past loan. Caller requested male to fax her a copy of loan paperwork male stated she signed. Male never sent or emailed paperwork. Caller later contacted her son, who advised her that he thought she was being taken for a scam. Caller advised deputy she was canceling debit card and will go to her bank to discuss reimbursement of the $120. Caller stated she would contact GCSO if she needed further help.
Threatening
Nov. 27
1:43 p.m., Moseley Rod, Thompson. Threatening message on son�s Facebook. Request for GCSO to handle. IR only; other party blocked from juvenile Facebook.
Weapons Offense
Nov. 26
4:36 p.m., Thompson Road, Thompson. My cousin came near our mutual property line where I was hunting and fired multiple shots into air in an attempt to intimidate me. The complainant is not certain what kind of gun the male was using. Complainant was not injured. This happened at 4 p.m. today and cousin has left the area, possibly returning to residence on Clay Street. Spoke with both parties; both have safety concerns regarding the actions of one another. Advice given to both parties.
