Joyce to Host 2013 Military Academy Information Day
U.S. Rep. Dave Joyce (OH-14) will host a Military Academy Information Day on Saturday, Sept. 21.
The event starts at 9:30 a.m. at the Auburn Career Center, Technology Learning Center Building, 8221 Auburn Road, Concord Township.
Representatives from the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Military Academy (West Point), U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Naval Academy and U.S. Coast Guard Academy will attend, make presentations and take questions.
The program is open to students of all ages and their families.
Anyone who has an interest in learning more about the service academies and the nomination process is welcome to attend.

Patterson’s Chardon Office Hours Moved
State Rep. John Patterson (D-Jefferson) has moved his Chardon office hours to the second Monday of every month, from 1-2:30 p.m. at Chardon Library, 110 East Park St.
District residents are invited to learn about and discuss state legislative issues, or raise concerns or questions they might have.

Farm Bureau Annual Meeting Sept. 23
The Geauga County Farm Bureau will recognize the past year’s accomplis-hments and well as lay the groundwork for its programs for the coming year at the organization’s annual meeting Sept. 26.
The meeting will begin with a social reception at 6 p.m., followed by a buffet dinner at 6:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Hall, 401 North St., Chardon.
Guest speaker is U.S. Rep. Dave Joyce, who represents Ohio’s 14th District.
Active farmer members will have the responsibility of voting on proposed policies as well as electing board members and delegates to the 2014 Ohio Farm Bureau annual meeting.
The event is open to the public. Tickets are $12 each and are available by calling the Farm Bureau office at 440-437-8700.
Reservations are due by Sept. 19.

Cafaro to Hold Community Meeting
State Sen. Capri S. Cafaro (D-Hubbard) will hold a community meeting at the Hambden Township Hall on Sept. 23 at 6:30 p.m.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide a legislative update to residents of Geauga County.
Members of the public are invited to attend and ask questions.
The Hambden Township Hall is at 13887 G.A.R. Highway.

Crop Walk for Hunger
The Geauga County Crop Walk for Hunger will take place Sept. 29 at the Geauga County Fairgrounds in Burton.
Registration for the walk is 1:30 p.m., with the walker setting out at 2 p.m. The route follows about four miles of paths and streets in the Burton area.
Twenty-five percent of the funds raised will stay in Geauga County to support the Geauga Hunger Task Force and other food cupboards, said Carane Ladd, co-chair of the Geauga County walk.
The remaining funds are administered by Church World Service and other agencies to help people around the globe have enough food and water to drink, she said.
The crop hunger walk is the oldest hunger-fighting fundraising event in the country.
Churches, scout troops, civic organi-zations and 4-H clubs, and individuals can call 440-286-4671 for pledge envelopes and other crop walk material.
