Grant to Improve Water System in Thompson
Geauga County will receive a grant to help Thompson Township improve its water system.
The grant is from the Community Development Block Grant, Residential Public Infrastructure Program.
The county will receive a $600,000 grant to build a wastewater treatment plant and install approximately 11,700 linear feet of sewer lines in Thompson Township, and will generate more than $3.1 million in additional project funds, according to a news release from the Ohio Development Services Agency.
The project also will connect 20 low- to moderate-income households to the system. The upgrades will benefit 50 households in the area, said David Goodman, the agency’s director.
“Access to a reliable and safe water system will improve the quality of life of people living in the township,” Goodman added.
The Community Development Block Grant Program is administered by the Ohio Development Services Agency’s Office of Community Development.
