Portage Women Indicted for South Russell Burglary

A Geauga County grand jury has indicted two Portage County women for burglarizing a South Russell home.

Susan Medhurst, 50, of 565 Eggleston Road, Aurora, and Angela Hernandez, 30, of 9582 State Route 43, Streetsboro, were each charged with three counts of burglary, felonies of the third degree; three counts of theft, felonies of the fifth degree; and two counts of receiving stolen property, also felonies of the fifth degree.

The allegations in the indictment concern the theft of jewelry by the pair on multiple occasions from a Whitetail Drive home in August 2013, Geauga County Prosecutor Jim Flaiz said.

At the time, the women were employed by a residential cleaning company. While in the home, they stole numerous pieces of jewelry with a total value of over $33,000. Some of the jewelry was sold at a pawn shop in Maple Heights.

Warrants have been issued for both women, Flaiz said, and, once they are apprehended, an arraignment will be scheduled before Geauga County Common Pleas Court Judge David L. Fuhry.

The burglary charges are punishable by up to three years in prison on each count and the theft and receiving stolen property charges are punishable by up to 12 months in prison on each count.
