New Water Meters

The Burton Village Board of Public Affairs has started a project to install new remote read water meters in the village.

There is no cost to the water customer for this service, provided the water service line has been sufficiently maintained and can withstand a meter exchange, village officials said.

Any water lines that do not meet BPA rules and regulations will be replaced at the owner’s expense during meter exchange.

Burton Village entered in to an agreement with Neptune Equipment Company (NECO) to install these meters. NECO will contact all residents regarding the meter installation by sending a letter to schedule an appointment in the near future.

All vehicles and all employees will have NECO logos on their vehicles and will be carrying photo ID badges.

Residents with questions are asked to call Deputy Administrative Assistant Lenore Pikus at 440-834-4474.

WomenSafe Director Takes New Job

Shayna Jackson, executive director of WomenSafe, has accepted a position as chief clinical officer at Beacon Health, a Lake County health services provider.

She will be transitioning from her position at WomenSafe over the next few months, according to the Women-Safe board of trustees.

Andrea Gutka will serve as interim executive director while the organization conducts a search for its new leadership, the board said.

“I am sincerely grateful for the support I’ve received from the board of trustees, the staff, the donors and community stakeholders throughout the years,” Jackson said. “It is only with their support WomenSafe would be the premiere agency that it is today.”

Over Jackson’s tenure, WomenSafe has grown from a small non-profit with three full-time employees to a domestic violence resource center providing a full continuum of services to survivors of domestic violence throughout Northeast Ohio.

Throughout her time at WomenSafe, the organization has grown into a new building, opened a Resale Shoppe and opened a satellite counseling location in Lake County.

In addition, the agency has obtained accreditation from CARF International, an independent, non-profit accreditor of health and human service agencies.

“The future for WomenSafe is bright and I know that the organization will continue to prosper. I am proud of the services that WomenSafe has provided to survivors and am humbled and honored to have had the opportunity to work with each and every one of them,” Jackson said. “Those that WomenSafe serves are some of the most courageous individuals who I have ever had the privilege to meet.”
