The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Feb. 28 through March 6. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 268 calls during this seven-day period.

Animal Abuse

March 3

7:57 p.m., Williams Road, Hambden. Third-party caller advising needs to meet with a deputy at the barn where she boards her horse. Female just came to the barn and found her horse in horrible conditions. Mother believes the humane society may need to get involved. Caller asking a deputy check the location with her daughter. Referred to humane society.

Burglary

March 5

2:10 p.m., Sagewood Lane, Auburn. Back slider broken. Bedroom and closet ransacked. Owner is on a ski trip with sons in Colorado. Caller is house sitter. Report taken.

Citizen Assist

Feb. 28

10:33 a.m., Tall Pines Drive, Munson. CPO against teenager’s father. We need a deputy to meet at the house to keep peace and escort teenager who may be intimidated. Unknown who currently is at house. Deputy advised. Stood by while female entered home and attempted to retrieve belongings, which could not be located.

March 3

5:21 a.m., Broadwood Drive, Burton. Caller is unable to get her door closed. She is afraid she is going to loose her job and she is in the middle of the road. Caller was able to close door before deputy arrived and no longer needed assistance.

Disorderly

March 1

12:57 a.m., Rock Creek Road, Hambden. Five to six people fighting in the bar. No weapons seen. Report taken.

Fraud

March 4

8:49 a.m., Munn Road, Auburn. Someone has ordered two computers on caller’s mother’s credit card. One order went through and the other one has not. Report taken.

March 5

6:45 a.m., Auburn Road, Chardon. I received a pre-recorded message that I had won two $100 gift cards and I needed to give them my credit card for a $2.50 shipping fee. Caller feels this is a scam and wants police to be aware of it. No need to see officer. IR only per complainant.

Suspicious

March 1

5:43 p.m., Mayfield Road, Huntsburg. Male called yelling he wanted the newspapers back that were stolen from his driveway. Male provided phone number of person that called him about the newspapers. I left a message for them to call back. Unknown caller told the complainant to return the newspapers he had taken from his driveway, even though complainant never took anybody’s newspapers today.

March 5

9:58 a.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. Suspicious, threatening email from FBI. Spoke with complainant; advised she received suspicious email from supposed FBI sender. Email was deemed to be ficticious. She was advised how to safeguard against such problems.
