The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Oct. 2 through Oct. 8. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 315 calls during this seven-day period.
ALARM RESIDENCE
Oct. 2
9:26 p.m., Auburn Road, Chardon. Female was in the shower and her security alarm went off. She is home alone. She is very upset. She does not hear anything right now, she is not able to lock herself in a room. She did not hear anything when the alarm went off because the shower was running. Bathroom window sensor malfunction, possible homeowner error.
Oct. 6
1:38 p.m., Rockhaven Road, Munson. Glass break audible alarm. Deputy checked residence. No evidence of break in. One male detained who was observed walking out of woods across the street from the call location. It was determined the male not related to alarm call. Male was next door to alarm call performing roofing work on property.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
Oct. 2
5:30 p.m., Thwing Road, Chardon. Caller states house across the street has a dog that has been barking non-stop for atleast an hour and half. It doesn’t appear anyone is home with the dog. The caller is requesting a deputy check on the dog and request the owners to try to keep the dog quiet. Deputy advised. Spoke with the homeowner’s brother, who stated he would come over and put the dog away for the night. Advice was given.
CITIZEN’S DISPUTE
Oct. 5
7:02 p.m., Beechwood Drive, Newbury. Male came into callers house and yelled at them. Male then left in a white Corvette with a black stripe. He pealed his tired and the callers kids were in the yard at the time. This was over the callers dog going after the males dog. There was a window broken from when the male pealed off in the Corvette. Unknown if any injuries were received from the dog incident. Caller said that the male threatened him and wants charges for the male coming into the callers house. Deputy responded. Complainants dog bit the other dog. The male stated an ongoing problem with the complainants dog. This time the complainants dog bit his. He went to the complainants house and told him to keep dog on property. Male admitted leaving complainants house at a high rate of speed. Both parties declined to file charges.
JUVENILE PROBLEM
Oct. 4
4:12 p.m., Madison Road, Huntsburg. Pumpkin Festival, child was hit with a rock in the head. Child has history of brain tumors. Caller advised he needs a report incase the child has medical issues tonight. Caller advised his son is 11 years of age. This occurred after another child sprayed callers son with silly string and then the other child got upset and threw a rock at the son and hit him in the head. The son has a laceration but the bleeding has stopped. Deputy spoke to the complainant and his 11 year old son. Stated he and two other juveniles were picking on and bullying a 10 year old female. They were calling her names and chasing her around. She threw a rock and hit him.
SUSPICIOUS
Oct. 6
4:59 p.m., Main Market Road, Troy. The caller came home from work and found a gas can and other miscellaneous tools in her yard and someone threw her mailbox in the ditch. Deputy responded. It is unknown at this time why the items were left in the callers driveway. Possibly someone ran out of fuel, stopped in her driveway then left their gas can. Extra patrol requested.
