The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office April 25 through May 1. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 380 calls during this seven-day period.
3:31 p.m., U.S. Route 322, Windsor Ashtabula. Geauga County Sheriff’s Office detectives out at 6013 US 322 in Ashtabula County attempting to conduct an interview. Discovered elements of a potential meth lab on the premise. Request Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office to respond and assist.
8:26 p.m., Pioneer Road, Huntsburg Township. Large explosion felt in the house and barn knocking things off the walls. Unable to locate any explosion sounds in the area. Spoke with the complainant, and they were unable to tell where the sound had come from, but stated it happens almost every weekend.
8:40 p.m., Ravenna Road, Newbury Township. Caller would like extra patrol overnight in regards to a report she wants to make tomorrow. The nanny she hired was involved in a domestic dispute at her residence in Gates Mills. A Gates Mills officer advised the caller not to let the nanny around her child because she is abusing prescription medications. Now the nanny is harassing the caller with emails and text messages. The caller plans on coming into Gates Mills Sheriff’s Office to file a report tomorrow, and does not think the nanny will show up at their residence, but would like extra patrol to be safe.
5:17 p.m., Main Street, City of Chardon. Missing 15 year old male from the Main Stage. Last seen in a gray track hoodie sweatshirt with his name on the back, short brown hair. Male never met up with friends.
11:41 a.m., Washington Street, Auburn Township. Complainant stated that a vehicle was tailgating her and passed her at a high rate of speed then stopped in front of her. The male excited the vehicle and had a verbal altercation with her, then left at a high rate of speed. Complainant is unsure of her location at the time of the event. Stated ” The little side street by East Washington and Stafford before Ladue.” Deputy advised. Wrong plate provided by complainant. No assault or crime alleged, unknown, “little side street” complainant is speaking of. Vehicle left the location. Info noted.
Soliciting Without permit
5:11 p.m., Shedd Road, Middlefield Township. Male was reported walking door to door asking for money. He stated he lived in Chagrin Falls but worked at Dillen Products and that he needed the money to get home. He was wearing a black shirt and blue jeans. Caller said that the last time he saw him he was walking on Shedd towards 528. He told the caller that his friend was supposed to pick him up from work but didn’t and that he was stranded. Deputy transported male to the Warren City Line.
7:36 p.m., High Street, Parkman Township. A male was reported going door to door asking for money. Male was wearing a white hoodie, 20-25 years of age with black hair. Approximately 5’4″, 170 lbs. Deputy responded. Male was a hazard walking on roadway and was given a ride to Nelson Ledge Estates.
11:15 p.m., Chardon Windsor Road, Claridon Township. Caller just woke to let the dogs out and her front window is broken. Caller doesn’t see any cars in her driveway. Caller approximately 10 minutes ago heard a crash but she thought something fell off the shelf. Both of the callers cars are in the garage. Report taken.
7:01 p.m., Chardon Road, Chardon Township. Passenger side window was broken and purse was taken. Possible grey van pulled along side of car. Manager said he had a report of suspicious grey van by the car earlier today. Report taken.
7:24 a.m., Rock Creek Road, Thompson Township. Ran plate on van returning to male with a 15 out of Madison Police Department for probation violence. Deputy stopped vehicle and found drive first name, middle initial, and last name to match 15 suspect info. Drive advised someone is using his personal info, and that this is the 6th time he has been stopped, arrested and/or detained for this warrant. Madison Police Department aware of mix-up nad advised deputy not to arrest and we had wrong suspect. Drive advised and instructed how to remedy situation from happening again.
7:26 a.m., GAR Highway, Montville Township. Caller reported a male in his blue dodge truck full of garbage parked at the end of the driveway again. No idea why he keeps parking there. He has been told numerous time not to park here. Dispatch responded to the location. Male is homeless and lives in his vehicle. Refused any assistance from the Sheriff’s Office for help. Advised the male to find a different place to park and sleep, so he doesnt face any possible criminal charges. Male advised he would comply. Let it be known, male parked at end of driveway, near GAR and did not enter into complainants property.
1:00 p.m., Mentor Road, Chardon Township. Caller reported someone set a boat and trailer on fire. Fire is out. Reported filed with Deputy Borden because of all the damage. Report taken.
