A Geauga County grand jury has indicted three men for drug trafficking in the City of Chardon.
Douglas S. Day, 20, of 12860 Mayfield Road, Claridon Township; Joseph S. Garrett Jr., 21, of 424 South State St., Painesville; and Ryan E. Myers, 19, of 9501 Kile Road, Montville Township, were charged for drug trafficking activity that occurred from November 2013 through the end of January 2014.
The men sold various types of controlled substances including heroin, cocaine, LSD and marijuana in and around the City of Chardon, Geauga County Prosecutor Jim Flaiz said in a press release Thursday.
Day and Garrett are each charged with three different drug trafficking offenses. Myers is charged with four different trafficking offenses.
All of the counts contained in the indictments are felonies of the fifth degree.
The indictments are the result of a joint investigation between the Chardon Police Department and the county prosecutor’s office.
Chardon police and the prosecutor’s investigator performed controlled drug buys in each instance and all the purchases were observed by law enforcement.
“Our department is committed to utilizing its resources in order to combat the growing drug problem,” Police Chief Tim McKenna said.
Added Flaiz, “Our office will continue to work with the other law enforcement agencies in the county to conduct covert drug buys. One of the key elements in addressing the drug crisis is to go after the dealers.”
Warrants have been issued for the arrest of all three men. Once they are apprehended, the court will schedule an arraignment before Judge David L. Fuhry.
Each count of drug trafficking is punishable by up to 12 months in prison.
