Ann J. Fecko
Ann died on July 30, 2014, at Joy’s Place in Chardon. She was a resident of Newbury.
Ann was a founding member of St Helen Catholic Church in Newbury in 1949.
She was a member of the Ladies Guild and the Isabella Guild #3304.
Ann was lifetime member of the Croatian Pioneer Lodge and board member of the Geauga County Department on Aging.
She also worked at the voting polls in Burton and Newbury.
Ann loved to golf and was a member of Pleasant Hills Golf Club. She also played fast-pitch softball and, in 1933, was in the Olympic Trials.
Ann was a quiet, conservative, generous and good with numbers. She was owner and manager of The Moonglow Tavern in Newbury from 1946-1966.
She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Bizjak (husband Peter), of Newbury, and Judy DiPaola (husband Sam), of Akron; grandchildren, Lisa and Michele Bizjak, Sam DiPaola III (wife Debra), Angela Denton (husband Wade); and great-grandchildren, Victoria, Thomas Wade III, Kaylin, Ella and Eli.
She was also the dear aunt of James Stanek and many other nieces and nephews.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Mary (nee Kvaternic) Yurkovich; sister, Mary Stanek (husband John); and brother, Edward Yurkovich.
Family recieved friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Ann at The DeJohn Funeral Home & Crematory of Chardon (formerly Ritondaro) 126 South St., from 4-8 p.m. Aug. 3.
Burial followed the Mass in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
Family suggests contributions be made in Ann’s memory to St. Helen’s Building Fund.
