Dorothy A. Voytko
TROY TWP. – Dorothy A. Voytko, of Troy Township, passed away Feb. 7, 2014, at her residence. She was 91.
She was born June 3, 1922, in Cleveland, daughter of Stefan and Mary (nee Murin) Lachvayder. She received her bachelor’s degree in education at Notre Dame College.
Dorothy taught home economics in Cardington, Ohio, prior to her marriage with John C. Voytko, on Oct. 15, 1955. They lived in Troy Township since 1955 and they were members of St. Edward Catholic Church in Parkman Township.
She was a sixth- and eighth-grade teacher from 1968-1977 at St. Joe’s in Mantua. Her hobbies included cooking and baking.
Dorothy will be missed dearly by her friends and family, including her children, Dorothy (Keith) Stanley, of Warrenville, Ill., Jeanne (James) Rydzak, of Old Bridge, N.J., John S. (Annie) Voytko, of Charleston, S.C., Mary (Peter Miller) Voytko, of Seattle, Wash., William Voytko, of Troy, and Charles Voytko, of Hiram; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, John, who died in 1997; daughter Ann Marie Voytko; and sister, Helen Lachvayder.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 15 at St. Edward Catholic Church, 16150 Center St., Parkman.
Visitation will be Feb. 14, 3-7 p.m., at Russell Funeral Service, 15670 West High St., Middlefield.
Burial will be at Troy Township Cemetery.
