Karl John Zacharias
CHARDON – Karl John Zacharias, 76, went to be with the Lord on March 27, 2014, at Chardon Healthcare.
He was born on Oct. 24, 1937, in Cleveland, to Paul and Catherine (nee Kasman) Zacharias.
Karl graduated from Bedford High School and later worked for Bedford Schools as a custodian for many years.
Karl married Nova in 1967, in West Farmington, and was happily married for 39 years until her death in 2006.
Karl was a faithful member of Peace Lutheran Church and wanted his friends and family to know his love for Jesus Christ his Savior.
He enjoyed all things Disney. He also enjoyed walking to Dunkin Donuts every day for his morning cup of coffee.
Karl was an avid track star, both in his days at Bedford High School as well as his time with the Geauga County Special Olympics, where he received the nickname “Fast Legs Zacharias.”
Everyone who met Karl was touched by his caring eyes and genuine smile. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Karl is survived by his fiancée Amy.
Karl was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Catherine; loving wife, Nova; and other family members.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Russell Funeral Service, 15670 West High St., Middlefield, on Monday March 31.
Friends may call from 6-7 p.m., with a service to follow at 7 p.m., officiated by Pastor Curtis May.
A graveside service will take place Tuesday, April 1 at 11 a.m. at Hillside Cemetery in West Farmington.
In lieu of flowers, Karl requests memorial donations be made to the Geauga County Special Olympics, 8200 Cedar Road, Chesterland, OH 44026.
