Neil E. Reeder
CHARDON – Neil E. Reeder, age 82, died on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center in Claridon Township.
He was born in Piqua, Ohio, on Aug. 1, 1931, to Maynard and Beatrice (nee McQueen) Reeder.
Mr. Reeder was a graduate of Piqua High School in 1949 and The Ohio State University, and served in the U.S. Army as a Tank Unit Commander in Germany.
Mr. Reeder retired as a soil scientist for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources in Northeast Ohio, and his consulting company, Terra-Tech Enterprises.
His published science records are in the Library of Congress.
Survivors include his children, Kathy Ann (Donald) Baird, of Chardon, Gayle (Scott) Stewart, of Anderson, S.C., and Gary (Donna) Reeder, of Guyton, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; brothers, Carl (Arizona) Reeder and Max (Charlene) Reeder, both of Piqua; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. March 27 at Chardon United Methodist Church, 515 North St., Chardon, with a visitation from 5-7 p.m. prior to the service.
Interment will be at 2 p.m. March 28 in Fletcher Cemetery, 8245 Casstown-Fletcher Road, Fletcher, Ohio.
