R. Denison Stewart, M.D.
Born in Sterling, Ill., on Dec. 25, 1941, to the late Donald B. and Elinore (nee Denison) Stewart, he was an orthopedic surgeon at University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center.
Dr. Stewart graduated from Knox College, in Illinois, and then from Stanford University School of Medicine. He did his orthopedic residency at the Cleveland Clinic and then joined the U.S. Army as a Major, during the Vietnam War.
Upon returning from the Army, Dr. Stewart returned to Cleveland and joined his orthopedic practice in Chardon. He served the Geauga County community for more than 30 years.
He is survived by his children, Matthew Ian Stewart, Donald Walter (Celeste) Stewart and Sarah Lynn (Michael McIntyre) Stewart, all of Denver, Colo., and Meredith Stewart (Seth) Reimer, of Shaker Heights; former wife and mother of his children, Pamela (nee Gorske) DeLong, of Oberlin; grandchildren, Lillian, Thayer and Nolan Sindelar, Lauren and Taylor Stewart, and Ethan, Wyatt and Quinn Reimer; brothers, Donald G. (Marianthe) Stewart, of Sarasota, Fla., and Colin (Sharon) Stewart, of Sparta, N.J.
Dr. Stewart was preceded in by his daughter Anna Denise.
The family will host a gathering at The Club at Walden, 585 Country Club Lane, Aurora (330-995-3111) on Feb. 23, from 2-5 p.m.
