Rachel S. Johnson
Rachel S. Johnson, age 72, formerly of Warren, passed into eternal life on Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at Maison Aine Nursing Home in Stow.
Rachel was born on April 13, 1941, in Rosedale, W. Va., and was the daughter of Marshall Fletcher and Vena (nee Cottrill) Putnam.
Rachel married her first husband, Jackson Carter, in 1959 (deceased). She then married her second husband, Walter R. Johnson, on Aug. 26, 1978. They were married for 30 wonderful years before his passing on Oct. 23, 2008.
Rachel was a devoted housewife and mother. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and camping.
Memories of Rachel will be carried on by her loving family, including her daughter, Cheryl Carter, of Solon; son, Steven (Theresa) Carter, of Cleburne, Texas; two stepsons, Mark (Debbie) Johnson, of Salem, Ohio, and Kurt (Andi) Johnson, of Windham; sisters, Dolores (Junior) Wright, of Rosedale, W. Va.; Charlotte (Richard) Frame, of Wellington, Ohio; brothers, Van (Nancy) Putnam, of Petrolum, W. Va., Wetzel (Beatrice) Putnam, of Arnoldsburg, W. Va., Mike (Darlene) Putnam, of Shock, W. Va.; six grandchildren, James, Jessica, Jeremiah, Sarah, Ramell and Yoseph; and five great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Claire, Luke, Logan and Elayna.
Rachel was preceeded in death by her parents; first husband, Jackson; and second husband, Walter.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations may be made to the Alzhemer’s Association, Greater East Ohio Area Chapter, 70 West Streetsboro St., Suite 201, Hudson, OH 44236.
Calling hours will be held on Friday Nov. 15, 2013, from 4-8 p.m. at James Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Rachel will be laid to rest next to her husband Walter at Pine Knoll Cemetery in Warren Township.
