Robert L. Gilson
Born May 29, 1933, in Washington, Pa., to Jean-Baptiste and Rose (nee Bober) Gilson, he had been a longtime Chardon resident.
Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Korean Conflict.
He was an educator with Chardon Schools, Mentor Schools and retired as the superintendent for West Geauga Schools. He was also a 20-year board member of the Geauga County Educational Service Center.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Myriam (nee Kornhauser), of Chardon; son, Rob (Montina), of Richmond Heights; granddaughters, Taylore, Kasey and Rylee, all of Richmond Heights; brother Jack (Betty), of Pennsylvania; sisters Cynthia (Tom) Myers, of Maryland, and Caren (Bob) Shekerko, of Pennsylvania; and many extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Audrey; and brother Ronnie.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Private family burial will take place.
