Steve M. Bayzath

RUSSELL TWP. – Steve M. Bayzath, of Russell Township, died Feb. 10, 2014, at his home, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 77.

He was born Dec. 19, 1936, in Cleveland, to Martin and Anna (nee Fabian) Bayzath.

His family moved to Newbury Township in 1950 and he graduated from Newbury High School in 1955, where he played baseball and basketball. He was also a member of the National Honor Society.

Steve worked with computers his entire life, starting at API in Chester Township and later at Structurial Fibers in Chardon.

He loved camping and fishing with his family. They often went on fishing trips in Canada, down in the Florida Keys and on Lake Erie.

After he retired, Steve enjoyed working with wood, making many Christmas items and bird houses for friends and family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Evelyn (nee Sojka), of Russell; sons, Mark (Dorothy) Bayzath, of Chester, Greg (Alana) Bayzath, of Huntsburg Township, and Jeff Bayzath, of Russell; grandchildren, Nicholas, Connor and Grace Kelly Bayzath; and sister-in-law, Alice Bayzath, of Chester.

Also surviving Steve is his sister, Patricia (David) Hess, of Davenport, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

His parents and brother, Robert Bayzath, formerly of Chester, preceded him in death.

A Memorial Service for family and friends was held on Feb. 21 at Gattozzi & Son Funeral Home. His nephew Denzil Boss officiated.
