CHARDON – William Amberik, of Chardon, died June 27, 2014. He was 81.
He was born in Richeyville, Pa., on June 13, 1933, and on Feb. 7, 1953, he married Winifred Mae Hunn in Centerville, Pa.
William was a Corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He worked as a self-employed auto mechanic, was an avid golfer and enjoyed Chardon and Cleveland sports teams.
Survivors include his children, Rebecca (Sheldon) McCartney, Kathryn (Pete) Weybrecht, Dorothy (Jim) Thompson and William T. Amberik, all of Chardon; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ruth Shoff, Naomi Shoff, Margaret Bilchik, Martha Shafranek and Barbara Gordon.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents, John and Hancilla (nee Martin) Amberik; daughter-in law, Terry Amberik; and brothers, Jack, Elwood and Don Amberik.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. July 2. Visitation is July 1, from 5-8 p.m., at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.
Rev. Paul Hagan, of Chardon United Methodist Church, will officiate.
