SPECIAL NOTICE

Effective April 1, 2012, we began charging a flat fee of $40 per obituary or death notice, and a $5 additional fee for photographs. Funeral homes will be billed monthly or more frequently as requested. Non-funeral home submissions must be pre-paid and we will contact the person submitting the notice for payment.

As a weekly newspaper, however, we recognize we must justify the fee. We have updated our website to allow us to publish notices online shortly after they are received. These notices appear on our homepage and enable bereaved families to inform a wide circle of relatives and friends about the death of a loved one both quickly and easily.

Our online notices are designed to complement the print edition and are available from a single reference point 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. All notices are fully searchable, so people living inside or outside the community can check funeral arrangements at their convenience.
