Holiday Card Collection for Troops Overseas
Geauga West Friends of the Library is helping collect holiday cards and notes for soldiers through Dec. 3.
In connection with his VFW post, veteran Thomas Monroe of Mantua is sending holiday cards to overseas troops. Cards and notes of thanks to soldiers serving in the Middle East may be dropped in the red collection box across from the circulation desk. Please use standard-size cards and envelopes. He will address the cards and cover the postage.
Monroe also collects books of all genres and sends them to troops overseas. He covers the cost of shipping himself and often gets notes of thanks for his donations. Last year Monroe sent nearly 16,000 books to about 25 individual soldiers who share them with the members of their units.
The Geauga West Library is at 13455 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township.
