Chardon Levy Thank You
The Chardon Schools extends its heartfelt thanks to voters in the Chardon School District who supported the district’s operating levy on Nov. 5. The unofficial final vote was 3,856 to 3,416.
Superintendent Michael P. Hanlon told supporters Tuesday night, “We certainly want to thank the voters for their support of Chardon Schools and our students. Their vote of confidence has positioned our school district to begin the important work of restoring programs and services to our schools and to continue the work of addressing important state initiatives.”
Ladies Helping Ladies Fair
Hambden PTO is once again hosting its Ladies Helping Ladies vendor fair on Nov. 15 from 6-9 p.m. at the Hambden Elementary gym. Admission is $1 and includes five raffle tickets.
All the monies raised will go to support the many enrichment programs that Hambden PTO provides each year.
For one’s shopping convenience, the following vendors will be in attendance: Tupperware, Uppercase Living, Grace Adele, Heartful Creation by Robin, Mary Kay, Thirty One, Made By Muzzie, Cleaning Service, Silpada, Sweet Love Cookies, Perfectly Posh, Origami Owl, The Glass Kat, Homemade Crafts, Ava Anderson nontoxic, Avon, Essence Maker, Homespun Catering, Hambden Spirit Store and Scarves & Clips.
Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser
The Chardon Take Down Club will host a spaghetti dinner and Chinese auction fundraiser to benefit high school and middle school wrestlers’ payto-participate fees. The dinner will be held Nov. 23, from 48 p.m. in the Chardon High School cafeteria, 151 Chardon Ave.
Spaghetti dinners are $8 each; children 2 and under are free. Takeout is available, too.

Maple Jog-a-Thon Wrap-Up
Thank you to all of the Maple students, parents, friends and families for an outstanding fundraising effort for Maple School’s Jog-a-Thon. Special thanks go to Painesville Dental Group, Russo & Sons, Foot & Ankle Specialists of Ohio, Piotrkowski Family, Jackson Family, Brooker Family, Sivula Family, Robie Family, Bennett Family, Quinn Family, Sintic Family and many more for their generous contributions of prizes and money.
Funds raised for Maple Elementary totaled $6,188.
Hambden Terrific Kids
The Terrific Kids program is a joint partnership with the Chardon Kiwanis Club and the Hambden PTO in recognizing students with specific traits that are spotlighted each month.
In October, Hambden salutes students using outstanding manners: third-graders: Tate Goodge, Malina Malnar, Lucy Beorn, James Fletcher; fourth-graders: Jacob Zeiger, Ryleigh Robinson, Kaylee Kaminski, Trent Shutty; and fifth-graders: Courtney Meyer, Alex Straka, Amanda Carroll and Bradley Duchon.
School Board Elections
Chardon Schools will see one returning school member, Paul Stefanko, and one newly elected school board member, Madelon Horvath, beginning in January 2013.
Mr. Stefanko, who has served eight years, will return for an additional four years. Mrs. Horvath, a retired English teacher and drama coach from the district, will be serving her first four-year term on the board.
