Kindergarten Registration will be held March 10, from 8-11 a.m. and 4:30-7 p.m., at Kenston’s Timmons Elementary School, 9595 East Washington St., for children entering kindergarten in August. Children must be 5 years old on or before Sep. 30, 2014.
Please bring completed registration packet, supporting documentation and calendar to registration.
TES Lunch Bunch
Congratulations to Timmons Elementary School Students of the Month. The following kindergartners honored with “respect” awards were: Emma Eberhard, Shauna Hennessy, Eric Lemons, Anna-Cate Neimes, Ryleigh Offutt, Lily Rieger and Jackson Schaedler.
First-graders were Hallie Hendrickx, Josephine Ianiro, Ella Jackson, Alison Manis, Avery Moor, Ashlyn Myers, John Pustai and Jacob Spencer. Second-graders were Madison Davila, Lyric Dickson, Jonathan King, Wyatt Koenig, Alexis Nero, Riley Rosneck, Anthony Thompson and Gavin Watson.
Third-graders were Hailey Bonne, Dakota Clarke, Rachel Ford, Emily Kanengeiser, Ava Nowak, Avery Polcar, Paige Spicuzza and Emma Wilson.
KIS Students of the Month
Kenston Intermediate School is pleased to announce their Students of the Month for February.
Students selected for Student of the Month “citizenship” honors were fourth-graders Dominic Alandt, Regan Chamberlin, Rachel Fender, Lorraine Healy, Josh Makesh, Sophia Mighton, Vivek Patel, Mathew Skladany and Jackson Strauss; and fifth-graders Colin Doran, Grace Kimpton, Colin Koehn, Ben Millard, Olivia Moss, Dennis Princic, Nancy Rodriguez-Jacobs, Molly Schutte, Emma Spencer and Cameryn Walters.
Play Blue Future Chefs Cook-Off
Twenty-four students participated in the Play Blue Future Chefs Cooking Contest. Six finalists competed in the sandwich cook-off.
In the grade 3-5 category finalists were: Francesca Burke with “Fiesta Tortilla Wrap,” Jenna Morton with “Jenna’s Busy Burrito” and Samantha Stefancin with “Cucumber Finger Sandwiches.” Grades K-2 finalists were Benjamin Fink with “Rockin Guac Turkey Wrap,” Nicholas Gambatesa with “Roasted Chicken Salad Tortilla Roll-Up” and Julian Johnson with “Chicken n Waffles.”
Winning recipes were submitted and prepared by Jenna Morton and Nick Gambatesa.
Science Olympiad State Bound
KHS Science Olympiad team placed fourth at the Case Western Regional Tournament, qualifying for the state tournament. It is the 10th time in the organization’s 10-year history that Kenston will advance to state.
The following students placed fifth or better in their events. Individual results were: Tech Problem Solving Zach Roshon and Jacob Enders, first place; Water Quality – Scott Brown and Mitchell Babej, first place; Write it Do it – Alexis Fleming and Leander Held, first place; Chemistry Lab Zach Roshon and Jacob Enders, second place; Entomology – Rachel Sauder and Carmaletta Hinson, second place; Materials Science Jacob Enders and Zach Roshon, third place; Mission Possible Richard Desatnik and Zach Roshon, fourth place; Boomilever Harrison Uveges and Stephen Kocsis, fifth place; Circuit Lab – Mitchell Babej and Jacob Enders, fifth place; Dynamic Planet Leander Held and Ashley Dvorak, fifth place; Elastic Launch Glider – Stephen Kocsis and Harrison Uveges, fifth place; and Geologic Mapping Alex Dvorak and Josh Sellers, fifth place.
Freshmen competing with the Kenston Middle School Science Olympiad team also placed fourth, earning the right to compete in the state finals.
The following freshman students received awards in their respective events: Meteorology Evan Frank, second place; Dynamic Planet – Fred Fikter and Chuck Mozingo, second place; Crime Busters – Bre Kramer, third place; Simple Machines – Fred Fikter, third place; Solar System – Evan Frank, third place; Disease Detective – Chuck Mozingo, fourth place; Road Scholar – Bre Kramer, fourth place; Wheeled Vehicle Fred Fikter, fifth place; and Write it do it – Bre Kramer, fifth place.
The Kenston Middle School Science Olympiad teams placed fourth and 11th at Case Western Reserve University Tournament. They will be advancing to the state finals.
