Living the Truth in Love Awards

Eight students whose lives exemplify the NDCL mission have been honored with the prestigious Living the Truth in Love Award.

Principal Joseph A. Waler and President Sr. Jacquelyn Gusdane presented personalized commemorative plaques to seniors Alicia Ambrose and Dominic DiFranco at the Senior Honors Ceremony on May 12. Juniors Alec Plumley and Maria Znidarsic, sophomores Sydney Stefanek and Louis Mezzopera and freshmen Loreto Iafelice and Stephanie Zbiegien received their awards following Friday’s Baccalaureate Mass.

Each semester, the members of the faculty and administration select two students from each grade level for the Living the Truth in Love Award. Honorees’ names and photos hang in the school’s main corridor.

Seniors Capture First Place

Congratulations to NDCL seniors Brett Skursha and Wesley Stanovsek, who won a first place prize in the Scholarship of Entrepreneurial Engagement’s Northeast Ohio Business Plan Competition.

Brett and Wesley’s winning business plan for the creation of a social media app called FamWe was developed as part of an entrepreneurship unit in NDCL’s Business in the 21st Century class. Brett and Wesley were awarded a $500 cash prize.

This year’s business plan competition included approximately 800 students from 17 local high schools.

Camp Registration Open

This summer, NDCL will sponsor summer camps for elementary school students entering grades 3-8. Sports camps currently offered are: baseball, boys and girls basketball, football, hockey, boys and girls lacrosse, boys and girls soccer foot skills, strength and conditioning, boys and girls tennis, and girls volleyball.

For dates, times and camp descriptions, visit ndcl.org. Questions should be directed to Athletic Director Frank Platzar or call 440-279-1072.

College Acceptances

Members of NDCL’s class of 2014 received almost 600 acceptance letters from 120 different colleges and universities throughout the United States.

To celebrate these achievements, NDCL’s Office of College, Counseling and Support Services created a Google Earth video that showcases the seniors’ college acceptances.

A special thanks to administrative assistant Jenny Backos and media specialist Amy Myers for their assistance with this special project.
