Mentor Beach Cleanup

Thirty-five NDCL students visited the mile long beach of Mentor Headland’s popular park on Sept. 23 to take part in the International Coastal Cleanup Campaign. Teachers Adrienne Fox, Nathan Smith and Michelle Nowak facilitated the day of stewardship as students took action to lessen pollution and grow in awareness of its impact on the created universe.

Between collecting and logging trash, students tested Lake Erie’s bacterial counts, pH and turbidity. Students collected 250 pounds of trash including four tires, a coffee maker, more than 1,400 pieces of plastic and more than 300 straws.
