Math Competition Success

On Feb. 22, the Greater Cleveland Council of Teachers of Mathematics hosted a fifth and sixth-grade problem-solving tournament at Lake Catholic High School. St. Anselm teachers John Koenig and Mary Fowler were with their teams as they competed against six other schools. All three of St. Anselm School teams received the blue champion award for second place.

The teams were comprised of sixth-graders Jack Baker, Anthony Shepard, Pierce Thomas and Brian Kuchta and fifth-graders Nicholas Liberatore, Joey Grazia, Lexi Vombergar, Trevor Wiece, Owen Purcell, Nicholas Velotta, Nora Raicevich and Eddy Ramaska.

St. Anselm offers an accelerated junior high math program, which includes algebra 1 and geometry. For more information, contact the school at 440-729-7806.

Girls Basketball Team

The seventh-grade basketball team competed in the St. Dominic Tournament on Feb. 17, and the girls walked away with a 21-10 win. The girls on the team include: Rachel Friedl, Julia Frank, Elena Holizna, Evie Horton, Flori Mincer, Coletta Rose, Michelle Kosir, Christina Judy and Nicole Malone.

Julia Frank and Elena Holizna were named to the tournament all-star team. In addition, Julia came in second place in a 3-point contest and Christina won the free throw shooting contest.

Preschool News

Upcoming events at St. Anselm Preschool include: Native American Adventures performance on April 1 at 10 a.m.; Mother Goose visit on March 12 at 10:15 a.m.; and the science of ladybugs program on April 9 at 10 a.m.
