St. Helen’s Got Talent
St. Helen School’s annual talent show, formerly known as “The Catholic American Idol,” has officially become much more like “America’s Got Talent” or “St. Helen’s Got Talent.”
There were a variety of talents ranging from vocals to hula-hoops as well as dramatics to classical dance and piano. Mrs. Annemarie Wenner coordinated the show held on Feb. 8, helping each group to fine tune its talents.
The audience, which consisted of students, faculty, parents, grandparents and other fans, was enthusiastic about seeing the family talent performed by their school brothers and sisters. Whether it was very sophisticated talent and well rehearsed or very simple and spontaneous, the crowd gave approval to every talent’s best efforts. Eighth-graders acted as the judges, giving final affirmation to each group’s best efforts.
The first act was the St. Helen Dance Ensemble dancing to the song, “Shenandoah,” choreographed by dance teacher Viluna Jennings. The last piece titled, I” Am A C-H-R-I-S-T-I-A-N,” was arranged by religious education coordinator and mom, Maria Fluto.
The St. Helen School community is looking forward to the 2014 show to see who’s “got talent” to share.
