West G Band Goes to Contest

On April 5, the West Geauga Middle School Band had 26 students in the seventh- and eighth-grades participate in the OMEA District VII Junior High Solo and Ensemble Contest. Solo and Ensemble contest allows students to perform either by themselves or with a small group of 3-7 other students.

Every event is judged by an OMEA adjudicator, who scores the performance on a Five rating system, ranging from a rating of I – Superior to a rating of V – Very Poor. The middle school band students performed throughout the day, and all 26 students received the highest superior rating of I.

The students that participated have been preparing for months for this contest. The students had great performances and we would like to thank the support they had from their school and their parents.

Congratulations to all 26 students.

Band Fundraiser Dinner

To help support the West Geauga bands, West Geauga Band Boosters will be hosting a spaghetti dinner fundraiser on May 9 at the Mayfield United Methodist Church, 7747 Mayfield Road, Chester Township.

All proceeds will be used to help fund the instrumental music programs in the West Geauga school district.
