The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office July 11 through July 17. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 367 calls during this seven-day period.

DISORDERLY

July 12

3:28 p.m., Old State Road, Hambden. Three males are fighting. They are screaming at the employees now. She does not know who they are. Another patron was trying to break up the fight. Deputy arrived on scene and learned that two of the involved parties had already left. The third party advised there was pushing and shoving after an argument during a game. He advised he was not hurt and nothing further was requested. He advised he did not want to provide a statement or pursue charges.

DRUGS/ALCOHOL

July 11

5:01 p.m., Madison Road, Middlefield. Call is at Middlefield Police Department. She advised someone left marijuana in her mailbox. She has the drugs with her. She wants to meet with a deputy and speak to them about her son being a heroin addict.

EXTRA PATROL

July 16

9:24 p.m., Winagle Road, Troy. One male and one female came to the caller’s door to sell her an upgrade to her security system. Caller said they were asking questions about how police respond when it goes off and how it goes off. Caller asked them for a business card, and they handed her a slip of paper with a cell phone number on it. They said they were with Smart Home Solutions. They left in a small silver car towards Rapids. Deputy spoke with Alliance Home Security, based in Rhode It’sland. She stated they must have ventured out of their soliciting area in Garrettsville. She was told to ask for permission from the townships if they solicit in Geauga.

FRAUD

July 15

12:07 p.m., Woodin Road, Hambden. Complainant’s mother got a call from a male claiming to be her son and she also talked to another male claiming to be a sheriff’s officer. They told her that her son had been in an accident and he needed $3,000 dollars. They also told her they would come and take her to the bank. Complainant advised their was a grey pick up truck that went by really slow, but when they saw him in the driveway, they went on down the road unable to get a make or year of the truck. Complainant lives up the road from his mother. The caller used both the complainants and his wife’s name in the conversation with complainant’s mother. She told them she did not have any money and was not going to go to the bank with them. Deputy stopped by mother’s residence and complainant’s residence. No one home at either property.

SUSPICIOUS

July 12

2:53 a.m., Kinsman Road, Middlefield Village. Deputy observed a red Jeep parked in the back corner of the corner businesses. Occupants advised they were making out during their lunch break. Info in radio log history. Dillens employees.

July 13

1:44 a.m., Clay St., Thompson. There is a truck that is going back and forth in front of the caller’s house and revving up the engine. The caller yesterday had an issue with a neighbor that brandished some kind of gun to her children, but didn’t call 911 about it. She isn’t sure if it is the neighbor, but would like the area checked and to see a deputy. Deputy checked area and gave advice on the matter.

July 13

10:37 p.m., View Drive, Newbury. Kwanis Lake Beach with an occupied vehicle. Deputy observed a male walking quickly away from a second vehicle at the beach. Two juvenile females and an adult female were identified. Deputy approached the second vehicle and smelled an odor of burnt marijuana emitting from inside the car with two occupants. They were identified. A consent search of the first car produced no evidence. A consent search of the second car produced no evidence. A K9 narcotics grid search around the vehicle areas produced no evidence. Occupant of second vehicle stated he smoked marijuana earlier in the day.

July 15

5:08 p.m., Berkshire Drive, Aquilla. Caller reported someone is putting nails in a line across the road to puncture tires. Deputy informed of call. Complainant said someone has been putting nails in the road. Unknown who has been putting the nails in the road. Complainant was advised to call back next time she finds nails in the road.

July 16

10:33 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Building to the east of the house, there is a male walking around. Caller’s daughter is at the house and can see the male. Caller is not at her residence. Daughter said he is looking in windows. Deputy advised. Employee was looking in window.

THEFT

July 14

6:43 p.m., Munn?Road, Auburn. Caller reported someone broke into their house. Caller has been home since 4:30 p.m. and is just now noticing. Window shades in the bedroom are messed up. Ipads and jewelry are missing.

TRAFFIC OFFENSE

July 13

6:45 p.m., Blue Heron Trail, Munson. Caller advised that someone is driving a golf cart and an ATV on the roadway. The caller wants to meet with a deputy. Deputy checked area. Spoke with complainant who denied a request for extra patrol at this time. Complainant may call Friday for extra patrol as he reports that these incidents seem to only occur on the weekend. Inquired about speed enforcement signs. Advised to call into the office during business hours for information.

July 17

5:33 p.m., Kile Road, Claridon. Deputy was southbound on Kile Road as a young juvenile was riding a mini bike northbound in the curve, in the middle of the road. As the deputy passed the juvenile, the juvenile made a U-turn in the road in front of an oncoming white truck. The juvenile had no safety equipment on. Deputy spoke with the juvenile’s mother, who stated her son will be talked to about this activity.
