The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriffs Office Sept. 20-26. In total, the sheriffs office handled 333 calls during this seven-day period.

Animal Problem

Sept. 25

3:52 p.m., Georgia Road, Burton. Neighbors chickens are constantly in the yard damaging property. Ongoing problem. Elderly female on 911 is frantic and upset, requesting help. Crime-O-Gram left at neighbors residence to have him contact deputy concerning his chickens.

Citizen assist

Sept. 20

6:06 p.m., Old State Road, Middlefield. Complainant wants to speak with a deputy reference what she can do as her mother comes into her home, moving and taking things.

Fraud

Sept. 25

12:22 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Elderly female customer was a victim of a scam. She already paid $2,000 and the people are still trying to call her as she sits here. Subject wired money to Mexico. Believed grandson was in jail and needed court fine money. Grandson OK?in North Carolina. Advice given.

Suspicious

Sept. 20

4:28 p.m., Madison Road, Huntsburg. Caller states someone set up at Twitter account in her 15-year-old sons name and put swastikas on it. Caller states she contacted Twitter and they suspended the account. Complainant advised further action to be taken if problem persists.

8:26 p.m., Madison Road, Montville. All outdoor light bulbs are missing. They have been taken out and are missing. Person(s) unknown took 3 light bulbs Complainant just wanted to make office aware and inquire if there were any similar incidents in area. Complainant has not been to location in about two weeks. Deputy advised complainant to try and make more stops at the location and report any further activity if they desire.

10:33 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Orange Ford supposedly carrying drugs from Portage County. Cocaine. Complainants daughter overheard this information while she was in Portage County getting her car fixed. Person should be en route back to Geauga County. He resides in Kiwanis Lake. Deputy advised.

Sept. 22

2:14 p.m., Washington Street, Auburn. Fifteen minutes ago, complainant states her 12-year-old daughter encountered an older male behind the Hitch N Post wearing a mask. Blond hair crew cut, white shirt. Stated he was going to get them. Male had an object in his hand. Complainant would like to speak to the responding deputy. Possibly teenage Halloween prank. Teen with mask over face carrying fake chainshaw. Checked area UTL.

10:10 p.m., Princeton Road, Huntsburg. Princeton between Stillwell and Chardon Windsor, male walking wearing clown mask, carrying something, possibly a bag.

Sept. 23

3:35 p.m., Kinsman Road, Burton. Caller wishing to meet with a deputy regarding a strange phone call he received. Foreign speaking male asking to come to the residence to gain access to his computer because of spam. Phone scam. Advice given.

Sept. 24

4:06 p.m., Bundysburg Road, Middlefield. There are two females going door to door claiming to be collecting money for a child with some kind of disease. Older female in her 50s and a younger female in her 20s. Complainant feels they are suspicious and thinks they should be checked on. Driver was cited. Passenger is a failure to appear out of Middleburg.

6:26 p.m., Leader Road, Hambden. Green Yukon driving around Leaders Trailer Park, stopping residents in area and asking if anyone has seen an Italian male walking around selling soap. Caller is not sure of that is some kind of drug slang or whats going on with them, and would like them checked. People selling soap door-to-door looking for a co-worker. Checked OK.

Sept. 26

8:38 a.m., Bundysburg Road, Parkman. Black pickup truck is hanging around the area of County Lane School and the driver is offering children candy. Driver has a bandana tied on his forehead, wears big sunglasses and a bushy beard and mustache, and is thin. This has been going on all week. School teacher went out yesterday and the truck drove off. Vehicle has been seen at the oil well drive in the area as well. Same vehicle was seen in area of Bundysburg headed toward Route 88. Checked area UTL. Extra patrol requested in area during school hours.

Theft

Sept. 22

11:22 a.m., Ravenna Road, Newbury. Syrup press taken out of sugar shack. Report taken.

2:06 p.m., Shaw Road, Auburn. Log splitter overnight sometime, between 7 p.m. and this morning.

Sept. 24

4:14 a.m., Washington Street, Auburn. Two people were in the scrap bin. The owner/caller chased them off. They left eastbound on Washington in a blue S10 type truck with a loud muffler. The back of the truck is full of stolen scrap metal. He estimates 10,000 to 12,000 pounds of material. Portage advised. Mantua advised, but will not have an officer on duty for about an hour. Report to follow.

Sept. 25

9:11 a.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. Theft of several street name signs in township. Report taken.

10 a.m., Merritt Road, Munson. Son-in-law embezzled money. Call clear.

11:44 a.m., Madison Road, Middlefield. Theft at the above address. Someone there has been stealing money from the office. Report taken.

Sept. 26

6:40 p.m., Mentor Road, Chardon. Theft over weekend. Diamond necklace, gold chain with Shamrock, gift cards and leather jacket were taken.

Traffic Crash

Sept. 24

6:59 p.m., Burton Windsor Road, Huntsburg. Silver Dodge Dart rear-ended by an Amish buggy. No injuries. Report taken.
