Oct. 11-17

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriffs Office Oct. 11-17. In total, the sheriffs office handled 332 calls during this seven-day period.

Citizen Assist

Oct. 15

8:09 a.m., Pekin Road, Newbury. Son had a situation yesterday and the father is now requesting a deputy to check the bedroom for drugs, if possible a K9. Subject is still at hospital for the situation yesterday, for driving habits. Driving habits have been bad; he has not been stopping for stop signs and traffic lights. Advice given. K9 completed a narcotics sniff of the exterior of the vehicle. No final trained response.

Citizen Dispute

Oct. 16

2:50 p.m., Kinsman Road, Middlefield. Wants advice on a vehicle that was brought in for repairs and the caller does not feel the vehicle is safe for the road. The frame on the truck is broke in three spots. I dont think its safe to let him drive it. I wont even work on it. Deputy was advised. Advice given.

Domestic Dispute

Oct. 12

11:09 a.m., Fowlers Mills Road, Munson. Wife slashed my tires. Male just wanted it documented that his wife, during an argument, slashed his rear tires when she was leaving the residence. There was no violence nor threats of violence with the knife she used. Caller said he wanted no further action other than documentation. Record only.


Oct. 11

3:49 p.m., Aspen Hills Lane, Burton. Deposit was made into callers bank account from a cash advance office that was not applied for by caller. She needs a police report to get it stopped.


Oct. 12

10:51 a.m., Cloverdale Drive, Middlefield. Male is harassing me. Neighbor, he is an old guy. Caller said neighbor called her a bitch. He said he didnt. Advised to stay away from one another.


Oct. 11

6:51 p.m., View Drive, Newbury. Intoxicated male standing by a car and asked caller for marijuana. Caller states he is drinking beer and also has beer in this car at Kiwanis Beach. Male is wearing a construction outfit. UTL.

Oct. 12

1:34 a.m., Grace Street, Newbury. In lobby. Someone posted callers phone number on craigslist on a sex ad. Caller is now getting inappropriate texts; received 53 texts since 8:30 p.m. Deputy checked personals for entire state of Ohio. UTL on the ad. Chardon assisted and found nothing. As of 2:49 a.m., the calls have stopped. Assuming post was removed. Responding officer completed a complaint form on for the caller.

Oct. 13

11:02 p.m., Kirtland Street, Burton. Caller returned home from work and said her daughter said she doesnt like when our … neighbor talks about his private parts. Male is in his late 50s and just moved here. As far as complainant knows its only been verbal at this time. Mother will follow up with daughter and also speak to the neighbor about his choice of words around the children. Deputy will follow up with caller.

Oct. 15

8:28 a.m., Washington Street, Auburn. There is a convertible with its top down on the side of the road. No one is around it and it is getting ready to rain. Car is really nice and seems weird someone would leave it there with the top down.

3:50 p.m., Old State Road, Claridon. Received a phone call from a male calling the complainant gramma and claimed he was arrested and needed her help. Complainant hung up on the male; no further phone calls received. She is concerned because he did say her grandsons actual name. Complaint was made for documentation purposes only.

4:02 p.m., Calico Lane, Chardon. Complainant asking to speak with deputy about suspicious phone calls both she and daughter received today from a male. Subject demanded insurance information because of damage they caused in a crash. He then became aggressive, calling the complainant names and making her feel threatened. No call back number. Verizon believes the calls are just a scam. Advice given.


Oct. 11

5:54 p.m., Venus Road, Hambden. Caller went to small claims court recently due to some juveniles that shot at his wifes car. Caller states he is now getting harassing and threatening phone calls from a male who will not leave a name over the lawsuit. Caller explained the male stated, Im going to kick your ass. Deputy called number and spoke with male who stated he did make the call, but did not say what caller stated. Both parties were cautioned to act mature and professional, and to limit contact between each other before any criminal matter(s) surface as a result of either partys actions.
