Nicholas Elswick is a Chardon senior and one of the best distance runners in Ohio — if not the best, as Elswick will have a chance to participate this weekend in Columbus at the state track meet.

You can see him and his teammates running the sidewalks (and hills) of Chardon daily.

LISTENING: I listen to Red Hot Chili Peppers, Barenaked Ladies, a couple other alternative bands, and quite a bit of electronic music, dubstep specifically. Classic rock is also big for me, a staple of mine growing up was Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band. Basically anything that I can rock out to is good.

WATCHING: My favorite TV show is currently “The Middle,” it’s such a classic. It’s really funny how easy it is to relate to the characters on the show, I’m often referred to as Axl by my family when I drink straight from the milk carton.

SUPERPOWER: I think the coolest superpower to have would be telekinesis, controlling things with your mind. Captain America is my favorite superhero, but I already have the rocking body and super strength so I think I’m set there (that’s a joke, my twig arms aren’t fooling anyone).

STYLE: I’d call my personal style a little quirky. Fashion for me is short shorts and no shirt in the summer, running tights and a jacket in the winter.

GRADUATION: Starting next fall I’ll be attending The Ohio State University, where I’ll also be competing for the Buckeyes in both cross country and track. I’m really pumped to be able to continue my athletic career at the collegiate level, and I’m so thankful for all the opportunities I’ve had to get there, with family friends and coaches helping me along the way.

READING: I’ll read just about anything. Cookbooks, ingredient labels, disclaimers on medicine bottles. I tend to gravitate more towards science fiction books, fantasy novel type stuff. To this day, my favorite books are still the Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

TRAVEL: If I could take a trip anywhere I’d like to go to the Grand Canyon.
