A local photographer's work was not only good enough to be displayed in a regional exhibition, but to earn a blue ribbon.

Amanda Hrabak of John's Photography in Burton recently entered three prints in the Mid-East States Regional Print Competition and Exhibition at the 55th Annual Professional Photographers of Ohio Convention.

The competition was sanctioned by the Professional Photographers of America.

More than 1,000 prints were entered in the competition and only 800 scored high enough to be on display. All three of Hrabak's prints scored high enough to be displayed.

One of her prints - "Air Time" - scored high enough to earn the Professional Photographers of America's seal of approval and a blue ribbon merit. It will be submitted to the Professional Photographers of America Inter-national Competition, the world's largest exhibit of photography gathered under one roof.

A second print earned a green ribbon of honorable mention.

This was Hrabak's first year photographing in the studio. She is not new to the studio, however. She has been employed at John's Photography for several years. Most recent, she has been the studio manager and is now the second photographer.

Hrabak also has covered local sporting events since 2004.
