Vivian M. Trask

CHARDON - Vivian May (nee Hill) Trask, of Chardon, died March 2, 2010, at Bradley Bay Health Center in Bay Village. She was 98.

Born May 21, 1911, in Chagrin Falls, she married Glenn Raymond Trask June 27, 1934, in her parent's home in Chardon. He preceded her in death Feb. 2, 2003. She was a lifelong Geauga County resident.

A homemaker, Mrs. Trask was an active member of the Pilgrim Christian Church in Chardon, helping with the Pilgrim Guild, serving coffee hour, helping with church dinners and was a deacon.

She was a charter member of Aerie Eagles 2261, having been past president and conductress. In her younger days, she and Mr. Trask enjoyed dancing and playing cards. She enjoyed flowers, cooking and baking.

Survivors include her son, Don (Judith) Trask of Bay Village; daughter, Donna J. (Jerry) Isom of Massillon; grandchildren, Heather L. Howard of Fairview Park, Kimberly L. (Andrew) Poderys of Columbus, Alan P. Trask of Milwaukee, R. Dean (Jill) Zents of Denver, Adam D. Zents of Akron and Shelly A. (Jeff) Jones of Akron; 15 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ethel Root of Chardon and Dorabeth Jean Ishee of Burton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn R. Trask; parents, Harry O. and Vesta (nee Murray) Hill; and siblings, Clarence Hill, Frieda Burr, Harry Hill and Charles Hill.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. March 12 at Burr Funeral Home in Chardon. Rev. Scott Holland of the Pilgrim Christian Church will officiate. Visitation is Friday from 10 to11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will take place in Chardon Cemetery.

Lucille Meadows

CHARDON - Lucille Meadows, of Chardon, died March 2, 2010, at University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center in Claridon Township. She was 80.

She was born March 18, 1929, in Lavalette, W.Va.

Lucille enjoyed reading the Bible and attending Rock Bible Church in Newbury. She was a member of Chardon FOE Ladies Auxiliary Aerie 2261.

She is survived by her sons, Michael L. (Nellie) Meadows of Gaffney, S.C., and Marshall L. Meadows of Rome; daughter-in-law, Victoria Meadows of Middlefield; grandchildren, Tiffany Kline of Newbury and Chad Meadows of Rome; great-granddaughter, Tessa Kline; and sisters Erma Lee and Betty, both of Huntington, W.Va., and Jean of South Point, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Shelby and Blanch Bias; brother, Eris Bias; and sister Pauline Lawhorn.

A memorial service was held March 5 at Rock Bible Church in Newbury. Pastor Brian Kuzman officiated.

Phyllis B. Kopke

NEWARK - Phyllis (nee Blaser) Kopke died March 3, 2010, in Newark, Ohio. She was 90.

Phyllis was born Dec. 16, 1919, in Cleveland. She was the beloved wife for 62 years of Pastor H. J. Kopke, retired United Church of Christ minister. Phyllis majored in motherhood raising and guiding their three children to be servants of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Elaine (John) Gard, of Newark, Jonathan (Jane) Kopke of Cincinnati and Lois (Steve) Koch of Superior, Colo.; grandchildren, Christina and Brian Koch, Rachel and Leah Gard; great-grandchild, Katie Gard; and sister, LaVerne (Bill) Brown of Brooklyn, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Anna Blaser.

A memorial service was held March 6 at Claridon Congregational Church. Burial took place in Claridon Center Cemetery.

Thomas E. Zeller

WARREN - Thomas E. Zeller, of Warren, entered peacefully into rest on March 8, 2010, at Trumbull Memorial Health Care Center in Warren, following a lengthy illness. He was 73.

Thomas was born the son of the late Edward and Margaret (nee Moon) Zeller on June 14, 1936, in Warren and had resided in Warren for several years. He was formerly of Bristolville.

He had been the owner and operator of the Ryzell Corporation in Bristolville for many years, retiring from his duties in 2006. He had served his country in the U.S. Army.

On Aug. 27, 1970, Thomas was united into marriage with the former Carol Rogers and had shared 40 years together.

His memories will be remembered and celebrated by his family, including wife, Carol; sons, William and Joseph Thomas, both of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; daughter, Terri Ratcliffe of Bristolville; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Caroline Babcock.

The family will receive friends at a gathering March 12, from 3 to 6 p.m., at 5044 Kuszmaul Ave., NW, in Warren. Private burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Alice Marie Miller

MIDDLEFIELD - Alice Marie (nee McFerren) Miller, of Middlefield, passed away March 8, 2010, at home. She was 83.

She was born Jan. 26, 1927, in Cleveland, the daughter of George and Marceda (nee Cash) McFerren.

Alice was a graduate of South High School in Cleveland and a long-time resident of Euclid, until moving to her daughter's home in Middlefield in 2000.

She was employed for 36 years as a waitress at Perkins Pancake House in Euclid. She was one of the original employees who started there when the doors opened in 1964.

Alice truly enjoyed her work and was selected from employees across the nation to receive the "National Beacon" award after 11 faithful years of employment. She achieved the status of being one of the longest employed with the Perkins franchise company across the country until her retirement in 2000.

She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

Alice is survived by her children, Bethann (Tom) Petronio of Middlefield and Gene (Diane) Miller of Mentor; grandchildren, Nicole, Elysia, Tom and Jim (Katie) Petronio, and Bryan (Shannon) and Erika Miller; great-grandchildren, Katelyn Mulquiny, Zachary, Jordan and Brandon Miller; and nieces and nephews, George (Janet), Larry (Linda) and Andrew Stohlmann, Barbara (Leonard, deceased) Sobecki, Pat Germ and others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marceda and George McFerren; sister Flo Stohlmann, who Alice missed dearly; brother-in-law, Leo A. Stohlmann; nephew Martin A. Stohlmann; and former spouse, Gordon P. Miller.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. March 13 at Russell Funeral Service in Middlefield. Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Middlefield Cemetery.
