Out On The Water

Register for a naturalist-led float on Geauga County’s scenic waters. Opportunities to kayak and canoe the scenic waters of Geauga County are more extensive than ever before.

For those who like their own adventure, feel free to borrow a kayak or canoe from the Headwaters Park Boathouse from 1-8 p.m. Friday through Tuesday. For Geauga County residents, boat borrowing is free of charge. Boats are checked out first come, first served. The season continues through Sept. 17.

There are also many naturalist-led floats to choose from this summer. Registration is required for the following programs.

Grand River Kayak

July 21, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The West Woods

Adults, join naturalists on to paddle along the Grand River

Kelso Sunset Canoe

July 21, 7:30-9 p.m.

Burton Wetlands Nature Preserve

Basic canoeing skills required. For ages 10 and older with an adult.

Adventure Day Camp

The West Woods

Camp is for teens entering grades 8-10. Sessions are July 22-25 and Aug. 5-9, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Fee is $150.

Kelso Canoe

Aug. 11, 1-2:30 p.m.

Burton Wetlands Nature Preserve

For ages 10 and older with an adult, canoeing experience is recommended. Registration by phone begins Aug. 4.kl

Grandparents Summer Farewell Fest

Aug. 13, 1:30-3 p.m.

Headwaters Park, Boathouse

Optional: borrow a kayak during or after the program.
