Kristina O’Brien held onto her seat as Bainbridge Township trustee for a third term after defeating challenger Sally DeAngelo in a tight race Nov. 7.

O’Brien received 2,424 votes and DeAngelo garnered 2,359 votes, according to the final unofficial results of the Geauga County Board of Elections.

“I’m grateful to my fellow residents for their vote and their confidence in my ability,” O’Brien said. “The residents of Bainbridge have spoken and I’m grateful to still be our Bainbridge Township trustee.”

O’Brien ran on a platform of maintaining strong services to residents in the township’s fire, police, service and zoning departments.

“The trustees are in the process of engaging a professional consultant to prepare a study relative to the township’s buildings, equipment and amenities,” O’Brien previously said. “This invaluable study, which will be implemented by current and future trustees, will allow for the proper planning, financially and otherwise, over the next decade for the future maintenance and replacement of our buildings, equipment and amenities.”

O’Brien said on her candidate questionnaire she would like to see the township accomplish enhanced communication with residents.

“While the BOT has meetings every second and fourth Monday of the month, the important issues vigorously discussed and voted on are not reaching our residents. A perfect example is when a resident came to the BOT with the idea of an Erosion Special Improvement District. I recognized that this would be invaluable to our community,” she said. “The ESID is a very beneficial program and we need a better means to communicate such programs throughout the township. Therefore, communication needs to improve in order to deliver important information overall to residents.

DeAngelo said she has enjoyed the whole campaign experience and met many wonderful people.

“I enjoyed meeting all the Bainbridge people and I enjoyed representing the underdogs and the little people,” DeAngelo said. “I am happy with the job I did and I feel successful.”
