China, Drugs Areas of Concern for Joyce

Although it’s been a decade since Congressman Dave Joyce (R-Bainbridge Township) was first sworn into office in 2013, the nation was fighting the second wave of the opioid epidemic. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, the first wave of the epidemic began in the 1990s, but by 2010, the nation saw a rapid increase in overdose deaths involving heroin. The third wave began in 2013, the CDC said, with significant increases in overdose deaths involving synthetic opioids, particularly those involving illicitly manufactured fentanyl.
