Notre Dame Elementary Preschool

Registrations are being accepted for the 2014-15 school year at Notre Dame Elementary School, 13000 Auburn Road, Munson. Classes are offered for 3-year-olds on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and for 4 and 5-year-olds daily Monday through Friday. There is also a preschool full day program option.

Snorkeling at W.C. Best Preserve

Snorkeling lessons will be offered Aug. 20, rain or shine, for individuals 8 and older at the Geauga Park District’s Walter C. Best Wildlife Preserve, 11620 Ravenna Road, Munson.

Cost is $25 per snorkler. Instruction by Just Add Water will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., 12:45-2 p.m., 1:45-3 p.m. and 2:45-4 p.m.

Shutterbugs Camera Club

The Shutterbugs Camera Club will meet Sept. 4 from 7-9 p.m. at the Geauga Park District’s West Woods Nature Center in Russell Township. The monthly meetings are free and open to all ages and levels of photography artists.

Save the Date

Munson Township will hold its annual Community Fishing Derby for all Munson residents on Sept. 13, rain or shine, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Scenic River Retreat, 10900 Mayfield Road, just east of Fowlers Mill Road.

Bring a fishing pole; bait will be provided. Catch and release only. Prizes will be awarded.

Senior Day At The Fair

Senior citizens, 65 years and older, will be admitted free to the Great Geauga County Fair on Aug. 29. Shuttles provided by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Department will transport seniors from the main gate to the Geauga Department of Aging Hospitality Tent, Midway 1, where coffee and refreshments will be served from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Scheduled entertainment includes the Chardon Polka Band at noon, Just for the Fun of It variety show at 2:30 p.m. and more.

The Chardon Senior Center will be open during regular hours Aug. 29.

NAMI Peer Support Group

The Geauga County National Alliance on Mental Illness (GCNAMI) will hold a peer support group meeting at 7 p.m. Sept. 4 at the Geauga Board of Mental Health & Recovery Services, 13244 Ravenna Road, Munson.

NAMI offers education, support and advocacy to those affected by mental illness and their families. The monthly meetings are free and open to the public.

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed for the 52nd annual Sisters of Notre Dame Barbecue & Boutique to be held Sept. 21 and 28 from noon to 5 p.m. at Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin campus, 13000 Auburn Road, Munson. There will be raffles, a country store and more.
