Correction Please

The appliance collection at the Geauga County Engineer’s Yard, 12666 Merritt Road, Munson, will be held April 18, from 9 a.m. to noon, NOT April 12 as previously reported. Television sets and e-waste will not be accepted.

At The Senior Center

Volunteer Week is April 12-18. Volunteers are always needed at all senior centers in the kitchens to help prepare meals, drive home-delivered meal routes and help seniors clean their yards.

Laura from Burton Health Care will lead a book discussion of “Mrs. Lincoln’s Dressmaker” April 16, 12:30 p.m., at the Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive, Munson. Seniors are welcome to attend whether or not they have read the book.

Judge Tim Grendell will be at the Chardon Senior Center April 21 at 12:30 p.m. to speak on Ohio probate law and the probate court process.

Food Addicts In Recovery

The next meeting of Food Addicts in Recovery (FAIR) will be held April 15, from 6:30-8 p.m., at St. Luke Episcopal Church, 11519 Wilson Mills Road, Munson. FAIR offers support, nutritional information and encouragement to all who desire to lose weight and remain fit.

It may be a good time to start getting in shape for our long-awaited spring and summer. The weekly meetings are free and open to all. Preregistration is not necessary. For more information, call 330-819-5028.

Cemetery Decorations

The Munson Township Road Department requests that all cemetery decorations, flowers and containers be removed by May 1 or items will be disposed of in preparation of the cemeteries for Memorial Day. A service to honor veterans will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery on Memorial Day, May 25.

At The Rookery

An Earth Day Adventure and Celebration will be held April 18, from 2-4 p.m., for youth ages 6-8 and 9-11 years, at the Geauga Park District’s Rookery in Munson. Children must be accompanied by adults.

Also taking place at the Rookery on April 26, the annual Spring Bird Walk series from 7:30-9:30 p.m. and a Backcountry Hike, off-trail into streams and ravines of protected preserve of rugged terrain, from 1-4 p.m. Both activities will be guided by a park ranger.

Geauga Family First Council

The Geauga Family First Council will meet at 2:30 p.m. April 20 at the Geauga Board of Mental Health, 13244 Ravenna Road, Munson. The monthly meetings, which are free and open to the public, offer support, understanding and help with family problems as provided by various county agencies.

Meetings are open to the public. Preregistration is not necessary.

Reminder

Munson senior residents, 60 years and older, who are registered with the Geauga County Department on Aging, are qualified to have 10 large household items and refuse picked up by the Munson Road Department April 20-23. The resident must be at home to sign for the pickup.
