The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Sept. 12-18. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 308 calls during this seven-day period.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

September 17

3:34 p.m., Madison Road, Parkman. Have a fox hanging around my house today and it appears to be sick. Would like someone to come and put it down. Have a sheep pasture and do not want it getting into there. Complainant called in and advised the deputy can cancel, the fox has left the area.

CITIZEN’S ASSIST

September 15

11:53 a.m., Ravenna Road, Chardon. Female in a silver Toyota Rav4 continues to stop on the road in-front of the complainant’s horse farm. The female allows her beagle to hang out of the car window and bark aggressively at the caller’s horses. The complainant is concerned that the dog is going to spook one of her horses subsequently forcing it to break out of the fence, introducing her and her farm to liability. She would like to document the incident. the complainant was advised to obtain a license plate off the vehicle and the Sheriff’s Office would follow up with the owner/driver.

CIVIL DISPUTE

September 13

11:44 a.m., Mayfield Road, Huntsburg. Theft of farm equipment, property belonged to a trust. Deputy advised. Dispute between two brothers over farm equipment left by their father in a trust that neither can provide information on who assigned to be owner of the property. Deputy advised both parties to contact the trust attorney in Florida to obtain documentation as to who the owner of the property should be, and also to consult with local civil attorneys to see if any civil matters regarding this situation should be addressed.

EXTRA PATROL

September 18

11:48 a.m., Mentor Road, Chardon. Caller has serious problem with speeders. They have kids leading horses across the road around 7-8 a.m. Someone is going to get killed. No one is doing anything about this. Complainant wants the road Sargent to call him. Extra patrol requested weekday mornings between 7-8 a.m. for speeders on Mentor Road.

FOUND PROPERTY

September 16

8:49 a.m., Woodin Road, Hambden. ATM machine in the ditch. Woodin and S. Brown. Complainant will wait by it for deputy. Complainant is an off-duty Mentor Officer. ATM was stolen from Bunky’s Pub in Leroy Township, Lake County. Lake County Sheriff’s Office came out and removed the machine for processing at a crime lab.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

September 18

9:40 p.m., Mentor Road, Chardon. Caller would like a report for damage done to mailbox protector. Deputy advised. Mailbox protector appeared to have been hit by a car. There were small plastic pieces lying on the ground near it, and paint black marks on the post. Spoke with the complainant, and advised him of what I had found.

SUSPICIOUS

September 14

5:47 p.m., Sumner Road, Hambden. Suspicious male walking around by the road, beard, black shirt, black shorts, short brown hair. He has been walking around in the area yesterday and today. No car in the area. Deputy advised. Male lives on Radcliffe and doesn’t get call service. He walks down Sumner to use his phone.

THEFT

September 17

3:30 p.m., Ravenna Road, Auburn. On Ravenna, between Stafford and Messenger, a burgundy Cadillac Escalade stealing sweet corn from a field. Vehicle has hood up, person in corn field throwing corn to person by the vehicle and putting it into the car. Deputy unable to locate vehicle stealing corn from the field.

September 17

4:55 p.m., Durkee Road, Huntsburg. Caller just had two males come into our store and they were looking for a tent. We were inside eating and didn’t realize they were here and went out there and they said that we didn’t have what they wanted. We then realized the cash register was empty, several hundred dollars. Small light gray car. Two white males, in their 20’s. One had a red shirt on, the other had a light gray shirt on. Unknown direction of travel. See report.

TRAFFIC CRASH

September 12

1:41 a.m., Clay Street, Montville. Female in the lobby of post reference a private property accident that occurred. Deputy spole with complainant who advised her ex-husband struck her vehicle with his at their residence in July. She states that he initially agreed to pay for the damage and now refuses and now denies causing the damage. Due to the incident occurring so long ago, she was refered to her insurance company and small claims court.

September 15

7:35 a.m., Morgan Road, Montville. Car vs. school bus with possible injuries. The sedan has heavy front damage. Second caller is bus driver, children are okay but subject in vehicle appears injured. He went left of center coming around the curve.

VAGRANCY

September 15

1:45 p.m., Old State Road, Claridon. Complainant states there is a squatter living in his woods. Possibly a teenager, living in a tent. Easiest way to gain access to the area is from a gas well road off of Ensign Road to the field. Complainant is not at home, would like a phone call with the findings. Deputy located a hob camp with no occupants and a tent with carpet, toilet paper and chairs. The tent was removed and a note was left for occupant to contact Geauga County Sheriff Office about his tent and the fact he was trespassing.

VANDALISM

September 13

5:21 p.m., Zenith Drive, Newbury. Caller has guys renovating a home and some guys came in and busted the place all up. Deputy advised. The house was no damaged, a few old windows outside were broken. The complainant wished for a report on file for any future incidents.

WEAPON OFFENSE

September 12

5:18 p.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. Hole 2 there is someone shooting at goats. There is someone in the woods shooting. Come to the pro shop at they will direct them to hole 2. Unknown description of person doing the shooting. Deputy spoke with the complainant, and they said the gun shots sounded like they were coming from the property next door. Complainant said the shots had stopped prior to my arrival. I advised the complainant to call back if the shots started back up again. I also advised the complainant that if they were shooting in a safe direction, and on their own property that I would not be able to make them stop. After speaking with the complainant, I went next door to Munson Valley Landscaping where we have gone in the past for the same complaint, but there was not anyone at the property.
