The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriffs Office Jan. 10-16. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 267 calls during this seven-day period.

Agency Assist

Jan. 12
1:56 a.m., Ravenna Road, Claridon. Hospital security needs assistance in the OB wing with a female. She and the baby tested positive for THC. Pediatrician states she can go, but baby has to stay. Female is dressed and ready to go, causing some problems. Female stayed in OB with child. Judge called, requested a deputy respond back to hospital. Female is threatening hospital staff and will not release the infant. She is not stating the infant also will test positive for heroin. Judge states the infant is not to be released from hospital pending further order from judge. Met with security in OB; everything was calm upon leaving.

Assault

Jan. 11
12:57 a.m., Snow Road, Newbury. Callers friend attacked him and he is injured. They have been drinking. There are no weapons in the home. Male said he was a little upset and was not going to talk to me. Victim not injured. Refused to cooperate.

Domestic Violence

Jan. 11
9 p.m., Auburn Road, Newbury. Near the gym. Employee of school would like to report an assault. Mother and daughter are on scene. Daughter was assaulted by father. Father is not on the school grounds. Report taken.

Drugs/Alcohol

Jan. 15
7:49 p.m., Rapids Road, Troy. Caller states he went to his friends house. Male has been drinking a lot lately and on numerous prescription drugs. Caller found him dead on couch. Caller states his friend had a habit of drinking and mixing pills. Staff page sent.

Harassment

Jan. 13
4:51 p.m., Madison Road, Middlefield. Received a prank phone call and would like to speak with a deputy. Deputy informed of call. Located juvenile neighbor … warned of telephone harassment charge if he repeats his behavior.

Suspicious

Jan. 15
9:28 a.m., Clay Street, Montville. Caller went to his garage to go to work and found a blue Volkswagen pulling up the driveway. Young male driver, dark hair, dark beard in his 20s. When the caller asked him what he was doing, driver said he was looking for an address. He then saw driver go up the driveways of all the houses. He asked again what he was looking for and driver said he was looking for an address 15-something. Caller cannot find vehicle now; checked all of Clay Street. Caller said he felt the driver was casing his house. Checked area. GOA/UTL on that vehicle.

10:29 a.m., Old State Road, Claridon. Young male just walked into the house. Male stated he was walking into rooms downstairs. He said he was looking for Chris. Young male in his 20s, brown eyes, knit hat, dark hair, shallow beard.

Theft

Jan. 11
2:31 p.m., Patch Road, Troy. Vicodin was stolen from residence. Believe it was a relative. Deputy advised. Report taken.

Jan. 15
2:52 p.m., Washington Street, Auburn. Have noticed items missing. Long list and still checking. Report taken.
