Shari Hunter, founder of Two Café & Boutique and Two Foundation, will be the guest speaker at the next Geauga Economic Leadership (GEL) breakfast taking place at Kent State Geauga, 14111 Claridon-Troy Road in Burton.

Learn about the 15 businesses in Northeast Ohio that are utilizing Two Foundation, a unique staffing agency seeking to enhance workplaces by employing individuals with mild to moderate exceptionalities, and hear about the success they are having.

Breakfast and networking begin at 7:30 a.m. Free and open to the public. Registration is required.

GOP Coffee Conversations

March 4, 9 a.m.

The Geauga County Republican Party will hold its first Coffee Conversations at its headquarters located at 100 Center St., Suite 250 in the Chase Bank Building in Chardon. Guest speaker and sponsor is state Rep. Sarah LaTourette, who will give a legislative update at 9:30 a.m.

Bainbridge Bicentennial Meeting

The next meeting for the Bainbridge Township 2017 bicentennial celebration will be held at the town hall.  All residents are welcome to help plan details for May and July activities.

Chardon City Dems Meet

March 7, 7 p.m.

The Chardon City Democrats invite Chardon residents to attend its next meeting at the Heritage House on Chardon Square.

Agenda includes an update on local party activities and events and an update on national events.

There are no admission fees or membership requirements. Any member of the public interested in supporting the Democratic Party within the City of Chardon is welcome to attend.

Indian Artifacts Examined

March 8, 7:30 p.m.

Bainbridge Historical Society will present a program on Indian artifacts and arrowheads discovered in northeast Ohio when it meets at the Burns-Lindow Building, located at the corner of Bainbridge and Chillicothe roads. Speaker Mike Fath, of Newbury, encourages residents to bring in Indian lore for further identification.

Chardon Kiwanis Maple Sales

The Chardon Area Kiwanis Club announces the return of maple syrup and maple sugar sales at the Heritage House on Chardon Square on March 12 and each following Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and through each day of the Maple Festival April 27-30.

All funds raised through the sale support the scholarships that it awards to Chardon area students and various other projects that it sponsors each year.

In addition to the Kiwanis maple sales, the Stir Booth will be open for visitors to enjoy every Sunday prior to the festival from 12-5 p.m.

Geauga Dems Celebrate Being Irish

March 11, 6 p.m.

The Geauga County Democratic Party will host its annual St. Patrick’s dinner at the Geauga County Democratic Headquarters and Social Hall, 12420 Kinsman Road, Newbury. A corned beef dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m., with music by Tom Todd, the One Man Band.

The Geauga County Genealogical Society will host Help Night at the Chardon Library, 110 E. Park St. Society members will provide assistance for one’s genealogy brick walls and problems. Bring a laptop or use the library’s computers.

Farm-To-Table Event

March 18, 9 a.m. to noon

Geauga Fresh Farmers Market and Lowe’s Greenhouse and Gifts will host a Farm-To-Table event located at Lowe’s Greenhouse, Florist and Gift Shop on Chillicothe Road in Bainbridge. The event will occur on the last day of the Geauga Fresh Winter Market.

The Farm-To Table event will have additional vendors, two farms offering CSA’s for the summer season, a $50 gift certificate drawing for the summer market and expanded sampling.A soup made from products in the market will also be available for sampling.

Grange Chili Cook-Off & Auction

March 18, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Huntsburg Grange is holding its 17th annual St. Patrick’s Day chili cook-off and Chinese auction in the Huntsburg Gym, located at the corner of routes 322 and 528.

Enter chili for cash prizes for first and second place. Event also includes free Grange cake, live music, games, cakewalk, raffles and vendor show.

Leadership Geauga and the Burton, Chardon, Chesterland and Middlefield chambers of commerce will host “Creating Business Success Through a Healthy Workplace” at Munson Township Hall, 12210 Auburn Road.

Enjoy a free networking breakfast followed by a panel discussion beginning at 8 a.m. Panelists include representatives from Integral Life Center, University Hospitals and Kinetico, Inc.

GCBDD Hosts Night to Shine

March 22, 6 p.m.

Geauga County Board of Developmental Disabilities (GCBDD), known as the Metzenbaum Center, is hosting its third annual Night to Shine event on at the Metzenbaum Center, 8200 Cedar Road in Chester Township. The event is open to all families who are enrolled in the GCBDD’s Early Intervention (EI) program and are actively receiving services. There will be refreshments, a DJ and several door prizes.

There is no fee to participate and all enrolled families with children ages birth to 3 years are invited to attend. RSVP by March 6 by calling 440-729-5250 ext. 1530.

Volunteer Tutors Needed

Geauga County Job and Family Services is looking for caring, motivated adults to participate in its Volunteer Tutoring program that matches volunteers with local elementary, middle school and high school students who need help in basic reading and math.

Volunteers will be required to attend a one-hour training at Geauga County Job and Family Services and complete a fingerprint background check.
