Amish Corner
Hello from Geauga County Amish Country,
It was a cloudy morning on March 27 and looked like we might get some rain. But, it has warmed up. I suppose the sugaring season is over with for this year.
I see the neighbor farmers are out in the fields plowing. I brought in my first spring bouquet on March 26. It makes the kitchen look a little cheery.
Son number two was born to Marlin and Linda Miller named Micah John. He was born March 23. Grandparents are Joe and Saloma Miller and Nelson and Ada Miller. He is also my great-grandchild as is he Mrs. Saloma Miller’s.
Son Wayne decided to take over the window business. He has been busy sorting through things and putting windows in order.
My company on March 26 was sons Perry, Katie Ann and David, Ray and Judy and Maria, Wayne, Judy and children, and daughter Sylvia and Cindy, Chester and Timmy. We had a nice time visiting, snacking and the children played games.
There will be a benefit auction the evening of April 7 at Buster Miller’s on the corner of Newcomb and Nash roads for Sunny Hope Special Needs School. They will have a live auction, silent auction and lunch stand. Any donations are welcome. Mark your calendars.
Spending time in Florida the past week were Bill A.J. and Betty Byler of Shedd Road. Their stay was extended for several days due to the bus being full coming back. I suppose a few more days of sunshine weren’t too hard to bear.
On March 23, sisters Edna Byler, Elmina and I along with Mrs. Ada Miller and Mrs. David Martha Byler spent the day with sister Fannie and Mel Yoder. Mel is feeling better after having a blood clot on his lung and leg.
Neighbor Joe and Sara Bricker are in the process of remodeling their house. They have put in new kitchen cupboards and new flooring, plus a new bathroom. It is very nice.
I need to work in the yard as soon as it dries off, as there are lots of twigs scattered around. Before we know it, it will be time to start the lawn mowing again. That was one of Joe’s favorite jobs.
Happy birthday to sister Elmina and brother-in-law Melvin Yoder on March 27.
