Earth Day Photo Contest
The Solid Waste District of Trumbull and Geauga counties invites middle school students in grades 6-8 to submit an original photo of something beautiful in nature. Electronic photos along with a description of how the photo captures the beauty of nature in the area will be accepted up to April 22. Cash prizes and recycled products will be awarded.

Fool’s Raffle and Pig Roast
April 1, 4 p.m.
Attend the Newbury After Prom fundraiser at The Ramble Inn, 10311 Kinsman Road in Newbury. Doors open at 4 p.m. followed by a buffet dinner at 6 p.m.
Cost is $50 per person. Event features a $1,000 prize and more.

Boy Scout Spaghetti Dinner
April 1, 5-7:30 p.m.
Boy Scout Troop 93 is holding a spaghetti with meatballs dinner at Pilgrim Christian Church, 202 South Hambden St. in Chardon.
Cost is $9 for adults 13 and older, $6 for youth ages 6 to12, and free for children 5 and under. Get $1 off dinner by bringing in dried or canned goods for the church’s food pantry.
A silent auction will be held. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. Drawing will be held at 7 p.m.
Chardon City Dems Meet
April 4, 7 p.m.
The Chardon City Democrats invite residents of Chardon to attend their meeting at the Heritage House on Chardon Square.
Agenda includes a discussion of local issues, the preservation of Obamacare and running for office.
There are no admission fees or membership requirements. Any member of the public interested in supporting the Democratic Party within the City of Chardon is welcome to attend.
MSI Discovery Center Open House

Czech Easter Bread
DTJ Taborville is selling the traditional Czech Easter bread by order only. Mazanec, or houska, is a sweet dough with golden raisins and almonds baked into a round loaf with a cross cut into the top.
Cost is $7 for a 2-pound loaf. Orders must be placed by April 6 and can be picked up April 9.

Church Rummage Sale
April 6-8
Christ Covenant Church, 16406 Kinsman Road in Middlefield, is holding a rummage sale to benefit Charity Children’s Ministry. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 6 and 7 and 9 a.m. to noon on April 8.
There will be door prizes, a bake sale and Easter candy.

Ohio Division Of Forestry Class

Join natural resources professionals from Ohio Division of Forestry, Ohio Division of Wildlife, and the UDSA NRCS to learn about options for private woodland management at Hambden Orchard Wildlife Area, parking area off Sisson Road in Chardon. Appropriate footwear and attire is necessary.

Geauga Bowmen Archery
April 8 & 9
A traditional turkey shoot and 3-D warm-up will take place at Geauga Bowmen club grounds, 12525 Sperry Road in Chester Township. Registration is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and from 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday.
All shoots are open to the public and to all archery classes. Food and refreshments are available.
Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for cubs. Youth equipment is rental free.

Community Easter Egg Hunt
April 8, 1 p.m.
Lowe’s Greenhouse, 16540 Chillicothe Road in Chagrin Falls, will host its 17th annual community Easter egg hunt for children 10 and under. Stevens Puppets will be back with a production of ‘Aladdin’ immediately following the hunt. The Easter Bunny will arrive at 12:30 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public. Please bring a nonperishable food donation for Bainbridge Area Food for Friends. Tickets are not necessary.

Burton Health Care Center, 14095 E. Center St., is hosting a free Easter egg hunt for children 12 years and under.

DTJ Chicken Paprikash Dinner

CV Herb Society Meets

The Chagrin Valley Herb Society will meet at the herb gardens adjacent to the Bainbridge Library to clean up the gardens and prepare for spring plantings. Afterwards, the group will enjoy a soup luncheon.

Red Wagon Spring Luncheon

The Christ Child Society of Geauga County is holding its 27th annual Red Wagon Spring Luncheon at St. Noel Party Center in Willoughby Hills. Jenn Harcher, meteorologist at Channel 8 News, is the guest emcee.
The Chinese auction and luncheon raffles support the many programs and activities of the Society in its mission to help and serve children at risk in Geauga County for over 30 years.
The luncheon will again feature signature gift baskets, along with spring plants and flowers.

Trinkets And Treasures Sale

The Federated Church of Chagrin Falls will hold its annual Trinkets and Treasures sale of household and kitchen goods, sporting equipment, holiday decor, gently worn clothing and accessories, tools, books, children’s toys, electronics and more at the Family Life Center, 16349 Chillicothe Road in Bainbridge. A boutique area will offer jewelry, antiques, collectibles and vintage and designer clothing.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, bag day.
