Sheriff’s Report
March 30, 2017

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office March 17-23, 2017. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 356 calls during this seven-day period.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

March 18

11:09 a.m., Georgette Drive, Burton. There is a bird caught in a net on caller’s porch. She is elderly and unable to free it. Deputy advised. The poor little sparrow was trapped in nylon chicken wire to guard against birds creating nests in the eves of the porch. The little sparrow was freed using the deputy’s multi-tool. The little sparrow flew away and sustained no injuries from removal.

FRAUD

March 22

12:18 p.m., Brakeman Road, Hambden. Female received a scam phone call from the Illuminating Company about a disconnection if she doesn’t pay. She contacted the Illuminating Company and they said it was a scam. Deputy advised her to put this information on social media to alert other business owners of this scam.

NOISE PROBLEM

March 17

10:43 p.m., Berkshire Drive, Aquilla Village. Loud party, playing music. Approximately 25 people outside possibly doing drugs and urinating. He advised there is underage drinking. They continue to come on caller’s property and are leaning on his vehicle. Multiple vehicles parked on the road. Deputy responded. They were advised the party is over. They stated they understood and everyone is leaving.

SUSPICIOUS

March 19

10:38 p.m., Treadway Drive, Munson. Caller reports her neighbors are purposely shining their floodlights in the back patio window. Caller reports it’s causing her mental anguish. Deputy spoke with the neighbor and he showed me his light. The light was not bright and is a spot. Advice was given.

March 21

7:58 p.m., Auburn Lakes Drive, Auburn. Caller states she is walking her dog and a dark colored SUV is following her. She is hiding in a neighbors yard near East Washington. Deputy advised. She does not see the vehicle now and she did not recognize the male or the vehicle. Vehicle was possibly an Acura SUV. The caller is hiding behind a pine tree and cannot see the vehicle. Met with complainant. SUV made a u-turn and honked at her and made some hand gesture. Complainant requested to check the area while she continued to her residence.
