Fred Hoffman
MUNSON TWP. – Fred Hoffman, age 78, of Munson Township, passed away April 19, 2017, at Arden Courts of Chagrin Falls.
Born Jan. 5, 1939, in Cleveland, to Fred W. and Jessie (nee Golembieski) Hoffman, he had been a longtime area resident.
Fred served in the U.S. Army from November 1961 to November 1963.
He was a self-employed machine designer, working for many local companies.
He was an artist and craftsman, enjoying silversmithing and woodworking. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and gardening, but his greatest joy was being with family and friends.
Fred married the love of his life and soul mate, Elfriede Schanz, on Aug. 7, 1971, in Parma.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elfriede, of Munson; siblings, Lawrence Harvey (Carol) Hoffman, of Mentor, and MaryAnn (Frank) Foegler, of Florida; in-laws, Anna Wohler, of Parma Heights, and Peter (Connie) Schanz, of Clinton, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Walter Wohler.
Visitation is from 9-10 a.m. on April 25 at St. Helen Catholic Church, 12060 Kinsman Road, Newbury Township.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on April 25 at the church with burial to follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Munson.
