Sheriff’s Report

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office May 12-May 18, 2017. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 403 calls during this seven-day period.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

May 16

1:11 a.m., Thompson Road, Thompson. Cow in the roadway. Just walked into a yard, across the street from the Old Ledgemont High School. Loose cow ran into Sidley’s Gravel Pit. Unable to catch or locate. Unknown owners.

EXTRA PATROL

May 13

10:58 p.m., Greatwood Lane, Auburn. Female was out of town and her 2017 Black Acura with roof rails was stolen from the car dealer in Bedford. Her garage door is linked to the vehicle and her address is on the insurance card in the car. House checked secure. Extra patrol requested until the car is located.

THEFT

May 13

5:20 p.m., Main Market Road, Troy. 3 or 4 bikers stole $28.18 in gas. Left westbound. Male suspect came back into the store to pay for the gas while the Deputy was taking the report from the storeowner. Male stated he was sorry, he forgot. Owner of the Marathon does not want charges filed now.

THEATRENING

May 15

7:18 p.m., Bass Lake Road, Newbury. While target shooting with his son and friend, the neighbor from down the street approached the caller and was complaining about shooting in the area. He told the caller to watch out; “he got rid of the last shooting neighbor by putting a few rounds through the side of his house”. The caller feels he and his family were threatened and would like to meet with a deputy. Complainant did not want charges against neighbor. Complainant wanted the neighbor to be warned that he is no longer welcome on the property. Deputy met with the neighbor. Both parties were advised.
